    Where Has the D Gone?
February 1, 2008, 11:39 pm Hoops blog The Painted Area, in analyzing the Jason Kidd trade talk, takes a look at how the Nets’ defense improved with the arrival of Kidd (going from 23rd in the league to 1st), and how it has fallen off in the last two years. There are other factors of course, but one conclusion is that Kidd’s defensive ability has deteriorated.

It's hard for a 35 year old to keep up with the youngsters. Kidd isn't doing anything wrong, just aging. He will start losing some of his best assets, and defense is one of them. When your legs start to go, you really can't do anything about it. It is amazing that Kidd is still able to do so many things, but no longer can we expect everything from him. Believe or not, but slowly his production on both ends of the floor will decrease. He might say he feels fine, but you know he's starting to feel it, a bit.
