The one thing I don't want out of Gasol is him impeding Bynum's development. I will be royally pissed, if he does. Now, at full strength, what do you think our starters will average? Fisher (8 PPG, 3 APG, 1 RPG) Kobe (26 PPG, 6.7 APG, 4.5 RPG) Odom (10 PPG, 3 APG, 9.4 RPB) Gasol (17 PPG, 8 RPG, 1 BPG) Bynum (16 PPG, 11 RPG, 2 BPG)
With Gasol being a better option in the low post, I don't expect Bynum to get as many touches as he did before.
Gasol WONT hinder Bynum's development. But JO would have since they are mainly low post players. Gasol is more of a high post player, a good passer and can hit the mid range shot.

He created everything for himself by grabbing offensive rebounds or off of alley-oops. Those will still be there. So in that case, he still should be able to put that up.

Not really. Bynum was putting up 13 in limited touches, before we finally started finding him. Gasol is a high post player, as well. He won't hinder Bynum at all. Enough with the hate, please. How many Laker games have you watched this year?
I've watched enough. I'm not hating on him, I think he'll put up nice numbers, but will he put up better numbers than Gasol...no.

Hey nMg, what do you see the rebounding numbers like? It should be interesting with Bynum, Gasol, and Odom. That's a front court that averages over 7 feet.
I don't see Gasol putting up huge numbers, but he'll be more consistent. Maybe around 15/7? Anyway, whats the lineup going to be like now while Bynum is injured and Kwame is gone?
With Bynum still hurt it's probably going to be: Fisher Kobe Puke Odom Gasol That's my bet right there. As for averages when Bynum gets back, I'm thinking it'll be something like this.... Fisher - 9ppg/3apg Kobe - 25.5ppg/6.5apg/5rpg Odom - 12ppg/5apg/9rpg Gasol - 17ppg/2.5apg/10.5rpg/1.2bpg Bynum - 14ppg/1apg/10rpg/2bpg And as for Gasol hindering Bynums development, not going to happen. If anything, it'll actually make him better, because now defenses have to gameplan to stop not just Kobe, but also Gasol, and I guarantee with Gasol and Kobe, it's going to mean more easy looks for Bynum, Fisher, Odom or whoever else may be out on the court. Then you also throw in the fact that Gasol is more of a high post player while Bynum is the definition of a low post player. So no, there's no way that he hurts Bynums progression, if anything, he'll help it.

I think you'll see a drop off from Gasol and Odom though. I'm thinking when they are all healthy, it will be something like Bynum: 10 rpg Gasol: 7.5 rpg Odom: 7.5 rpg Kobe: 5.0 rpg Fish: who cares.
Gasol won't hinder Bynum at all. He's very unselfish with the basketball and passes the ball well in the post. If those two players can click on the court we will be a handful for every team in the league. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Odom come off the bench now because the 2nd unit plays a faster open court offense where Odom is best at. You see that dribble move Odom did last night when he pushed the ball ahead of Calderon taking him completely out of the play and then going behind the back to Kobe for a layup? That is Lamar at his best. When we're at full strength I'd prefer this lineup: PG - Fisher SG - Kobe SF - Ariza PF - Gasol C - Bynum Odom isn't very good when he has to play SF because it takes away his quickness advantage. I'd prefer him to be the 6th man where he can play PF and run with Farmar and Sasha.

Lamar has a huge weight off his shoulders by being the 3rd/4th option, I'd rather have the more experienced vet start.

Ariza is good at hitting from the corners. I prefer Ariza over Odom with the starters because he moves without the basketball and can allow Kobe to roam more on defense. You get the luxury of Ariza defending the opposing teams best perimeter player. Odom's body of work at SF has been a failure for the Lakers. He's too, slow to play the position and never took advantage of his size when he's being defended by smaller players. What experience are we talking about here? Odom's post-season experience has been a disaster. I don't have any faith in him at the end of games. He's the anti-clutch.

Well for the record, In 2005-2006 he almost split his minutes at SF/PF, but while he did play better as a PF, he was still decent as a SF and put up better numbers than Ariza ever has. Ariza might be a decent play at SF then, but I still believe Odom will be more useful to us now that teams can focus on Gasol, so I think you're forgetting about that Shape. It still concerns me that Ariza has never averaged more than 22 minutes a game and is currently injured. He's also missed 50 games the last two seasons prior to being with LA.
