In light of the Pau trade, has anything been said or suggested w/regard to Turiaf's role for the rest of the season? He has been playing pretty well as of late: Over the last nine games, he's averaging 10.9 points on 56% shooting, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and a tremendous 2.7 blocks in 25 and a half minutes per game, while turning the ball over just once. In the last ten games, he is sixth in the league in blocks! Today, as I write this, it looks like he'll pretty much duplicate these averages: In about 27 minutes, he has 13 points (5 of 9 shooting), 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and a block. Question is, is it expected that his minutes will be curtailed now?
Ronny Turiaf is not starter material, at least not for an 82 game season. When we get everyone back healthy, he'll come off the bench. Ronny will probably be the first backup for the powerforward and center positions. In the meantime, he'll have fun dancing on the bench!

However, as a reserve, he has been averaging 25 minutes a game since Bynum was injured--I think yesterday and today were his only starts. I am wondering whether his munites will be cut back to 15 because Pau will play more than Kwame did. Of course, the Lakers could just as easily reduce the minutes of other reserves such as Radman.

Pau, Ronny, and Mbenga can more than hold the center position until Bynum comes back. When Drew does get back, I'm guessing we'll use a 3-man rotation of Bynum, Pau, and Ronny for the C-PF positions. Probably 30-35 minutes each for Bynum and Pau, while Ronny fills in the gaps. No matter what happens, this bodes well for us. We have such a deep team that we're actually worried our bench players won't get enough minutes because we love seeing them play. If anything, we'll have more than enough rest compared to most teams going into the playoffs.
Ronny's production is easy to find in this league. I love the guy, but I'm not to worried what happens to him when everyone is healthy. He wasn't getting much burn before Bynum went down, and I was fine with that. Quite honestly, I'd rather see Vladimir Radmanovic get more burn than Turiaf off the bench. He's getting healthy and his shot is starting to fall. He can have a bigger impact on this team than Turiaf can.
Radmanovic can play small forward though, Ronny can't. When healthy, Radmanovic will probably see most of his time at small forward. Ronny will split time between center and powerforward, and we'll see small doses of DJ Mbenga, who has actually looked pretty impressive
He's definitely playing well, but when Bynum returns, Turiaf's minutes will drop, although maybe not significantly, because he will be taking Kwame's minutes that he had to share with Bynum. Ultimately, it will depend on matchups. If we play small ball, LO will move to PF when either Gasol or Bynum needs a breather .. if we play big ball, the LO will stay at SF and Turiaf will sub in

Odom/Walton/Ariza/Vlad I'm sure Vlad will see the majority of his minutes at the PF. In that case, I'd much rather Vlad get the time than Turiaf.
I really think we're going to see one more trade by the deadline, to clear up our logjam at SF. I'd prefer that Luke or Odom went out, but I can accept Vladimir going out if we get a shooter in return. I just don't want to see Ariza traded. I'd like to see the depth chart like this once everyone is healthy: Derek Fisher/Jordan Farmar Kobe Bryant/Sasha Vujacic Trevor Ariza/Lamar Odom/Luke Walton Pau Gasol/Vladimir Radmanovic/Ronnie Turiaf Andrew Bynum/Ronnie Turiaf/Chris Mihm I want to sign DJ throughout the year, and split Ronnie's minutes with him at C.

I would love to trade Odom; Luke has also been wack this year and is making 4 million this season, and 4.4 million next year. I would like to acquire someone else who is a real SF.
It's incredible how deep we are and we still have an open roster spot. I don't think they should do anything with our SF position for right now though. Luke and Radmanovic are in and out of the lineup often enough that it might not be a huge problem.
