Kobe is currently #3 in race to the MVP... but has had one of the worst games in over 2 years LOL (6 pts 3 - 13, 7to's, he did have 8 assists 2 stls 2 blocks though) and Gasol had to pick him up. Id like to ask your thoughts on him winning the award he has never won, the MVP (except for DPOY which camby already has it, and ROY) LBJ is currently #1 and is leading cleveland to a winning record 27 - 20, good for 4th in the West. Although this was similar to the lakers standing during the 05 - 06 season, they only managed to make 7th place, this has much to do with the competition in the west, therefore KB24 wasnt voted the MVP despite single handedly carrying the lakers to the playoffs, despite the 81 pt and 62pts in 3 qtrs games and despite leading the league in scoring. Therefore i think i should revise my question... Do you think KB has a chance of taking the trophy against a "worshipped LBJ" who has his team 4th in the east and 7 games over .500, and is leading the league in scoring and statistical sh*t with 30 7 7 and clearly is a better loved player and person than Kobe by most critics and against KG who has raised the Celtics from the ground and is now leading the league with the best record? *Note: Although i would prefer the NBA championship... KB24 needs to be given credit where its due. IMO if they give it to Lebron this year the KB24 was 'clearly' robbed in 05-06. EDIT: I think we can add cpaul to the list of who kobe's playing against for the mvp due to his extraordinary performances

Is there an official list or something? It seems a bit harsh to discount someone of winning the MVP race for losing three games and having the best record in the NBA.
cant say its an official list... its just an article by an nba.com analyst/writer. his name is mo brooks. the article updates weekly its called R2MVP

Honestly, I 've got a feeling Kobe never wins the MVP. It doesn't matter what he does every yearits never going to be good enough in the voters eyes. He could put up great statistical numbers and they say look at the Lakers record. He carries them into the playoffs while Shaq is injured and they say but he had Shaq part of the season blah blah blah. Now that Lebron is here and can do no wrong, I think they are going to give it to him.
If the Lakers top 50 win mark and get homecourt, Kobe gets it, hands down. If he doesn't, than it'd be a huge robbery.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Shapecity @ Feb 6 2008, 02:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I'd rather see him win the Finals MVP.</div> He will... hands down... LOL I believe kobe is in a 'suttle' mood and is saving everything for the playoffs. I have a big feeling that he'd go berserk come playoff time. But i was just wondering if the voters will give credit to kobe where its due 'this time around'
I don't know if Kobe is going to go "berserk" come playoff time. If he does so while playing within the offense, than so be it. But, if the gameplan doesn't call for it, I highly doubt he will. Plus, with Pau, Bynum, Odom and Fisher there to help out this year, I don't think Kobe is going to have to go off for 40 for us to win.
But what if the Celtics AND hornets also reach 50? Celtics around 60? and cavs even with a par record are still in 4th come playoff time? Deos he still get it? LOL
For one, the Celtics had high expectations for them once the season began. They were expected to be good, maybe not this good, but good nonetheless. Also, the Cavs had just come off a Finals appearance, so you'd think they'd have some decent expectations as well. I think the only person that you could make a real good case for would have to be Chris Paul, and even then, his team still has more talent than the Lakers did before they got Gasol.
