With Shaq in the west, now's the time to deal Magloire to New Orleans for Rasual Butler. Come on, surely SOMEONE in the Nets' front office reads this board. [and sign Bobby Jones while you're at it]

Unfortunately, they've also said they won't trade him either.
IMO Redick sucks. He was wickedly overrated, just like Morrison. On the other hand, players such as Salim Stoudemire were really underrated. Sheesh.

Speaking about the first trade to New Orleans, I wouldn't mind this one. Hornets trade: Rasual Butler Hilton Armstrong Nets trade: Jamaal Magloire Malik Allen

He does not play consistently or very much. Before this year, he had hit around 37% of his three-point attempts, he never creates a turnover, and he's pretty athletic. Last year, for instance, he started for 38 games and averaged around 14 points and 4.5 rebounds. His field goal percentage is low, but part of that is because half his attempts are three-pointers, whether it is his preference or the demand of Coach Scott. He can't be any worse athletically than Boki (read: a possible improvement defensively)--and, there's no question that he'll be as good if not better than whoever the Nets sign in the off-season. I say, acquire Butler and either deal Boki or let him walk, and give Butler a chance to have a steady role next season. What the Nets need is an outside shooter off the bench . . . he's a slightly better three-point shooter than Kidd (34% the last two years), than Wright, than Marcus, than RJ (35% the last two years which is an "improvement"), and probably Boki (who is at 35%)(Boki hit 42% of his three-point attempts last year but it was an anomoly). If the Nets let BOTH Boki and Wright go, they will need a pair of capable swingmen. Butler could be a start. More importantly, Magloire doesn't play AT ALL, while Butler will, or should.

This is the first summer where Thorn might not actually waste cap space on a mediocre, over-the-hill, go-nowhere player because of our transition to rebuilding mode. Not saying he'll do any better in that game, but Kiki might... </div> Lateral move? Yeah, sure. I guess the first decision is whether you want to try to reach the playoffs and maximize your chances to get out of the first round. If that's the case, then I think it's a good trade for the Nets. [admittedly, I first thought of this potential "match" when the Nets had a record around .500 and were within shouting distance of the 4 seed]. As contracts go, also, it is not "terrible." It's probably around what they'd have to pay Boki if they wanted to keep him. If you want to just go through the motions, try to trade Kidd and/or Carter your young, unproven players and draft picks? Yeah, then it isn't worth it. I'm not backing off Bobby Jones.
Forget Bobby Jones I'm still astonished at the fact that Jared Jordan is still not in the NBA. He led the NCAA in assists two years straight and the Knicks drafted him but cut him b/c they don't like team players. He is basically the second comming of Jason Kidd. PICK UP JARED JORDAN and put him under Kidd's wing. He's an absolute monster I can't believe this kid is getting overlooked. And it's not even like I'm a Marist fans or I have any connection to him he's just simply a beast and should be picked up especially since we can grab him for like 500K.

He is too slow and unathletic to be an NBA PG. Take the least athletic PG in the NBA today and he is still a much better athlete than Jared Jordan.

Jared Jordan simply isn't that good. He won't solve any of our problems, and he's not the player we need at all. IMO what we need is someone like Ime Udoka, or Kyle Lowry. Hell, Bobby Jones and Rasual Butler would be awesome pickups...as would Demetris Nichols, if we could pry him away from Chi-town.
