What an opening night tease. When was the last time this guy hit a jumper? And it's not like they aren't open looks. Last night he tries to go between his legs and fumbles it away. He's got zero offensive game. Whatever he learned in his big offseason workout has already been forgotten. He's shooting 39 pct. overall and 29 pct. from 3. There are about 30 guys in the D-league who could do what he does and probably do it better. No way should they resign this guy. Worst 1st round pick since Yinka and O'Bannon. Even Rex Walters was better than this clown.
Thank God they declined the team option on his contract. I don't know where that potential they saw in Wright went. To think we could have had Danny Granger, Francisco Garcia, Maxiell, Kleiza, and of course David Lee. I would even take Hakim Warrick and ugh, Turiaf, over Wright.
I still stick by my pick of Hakim Warrick instead of him. The perfect fit for the team at that time. Instead we wanted a three point shooter and yet Hakim almost hits the same amount of shots beyond the arc.
im not surprised. remember last year early in the year, he was hot from the field but cooled off. something with starting the season gets him in a groove but he begins to suck later on. a horrible draft pick, antoine wright, if you are reading this thread, YOU SUCK

David Lee is the perfect pick but warrick, GRANGER!!!!!!, green ALL would have been MUCH better picks

Don't ask me why though, he certainly didn't pan out that well.
The single most repeated mistake this team has made has been the inability to find/acquire a pure shooter.
i thought danny granger was a no-brainer when we were picking even though we needed a shooter because i thought granger can play part-time power forward which we needed help in as well...turns out granger can play both power forward and shooter roles very well...anyway...we can get wright's defense for the minimum next yr...

I wanna thank footwalker for creating this thread as I can burst out with this: Antoine Wright, you are the worst basketball player!! Jason Collins is a basketball God compared to you!! It's a pain to watch you wear Nets uniform. Disgusting... i'm not joking. what a waste of pick...
wright is like the sucky kid that stays out of the way on offense, doesnt want the ball and when he does get, starts crying when you're ballin. i always wanna beat those boys

He has no NBA position. He's a fringe player at best. The Nets would not be any better off with him instead of Wright. Not one win better. The guy I wanted was Jarrett Jack, who is a solid player who would have been a nice backup for Kidd and made both McInnis and Marcus Williams unnecessary. Who knows who might be here instead of those guys. Maybe good depth players. Who knows? The real guy to be crying about is Danny Granger, who is 50 times the player Warrick will ever be. Thorn saw his medical report and pussied out even though he was the obvious pick for the Nets.
damn, I don't really mind Wright, but thinking about a frontcourt with Jefferson, Granger, Krstic, Boone and Sean makes me want to cry, but I'm too macho to actually cry.
I was visiting relatives the night of that draft and was sitting at a computer desk with a flimsy keyboard tray. I slammed my fist down in frustration so hard when the pick of Wright was announced that I dented the keyboard tray. About six months ago, they finally replaced that computer desk and gave it to us to use for my sons. I had to chuckle and cry when I saw the dent. Danny mother ****ing Granger That was also the day I lost what little faith I had left in Thron of ever being able to fix or rebuild the Nets.
It's not just Antoine Wright's draft year that I'm regretful for. 2003 when we drafted Planinic, we could have had Travis Outlaw, Barbosa, or Josh Howard instead

In Thorn's defense, though, of the five or so players that Thorn was rumoured to be interested in--and that fans most strenuously argued in favor of--Granger is the only one that developed. There were equally as many people who wanted the Nets to draft McCants (who went on the pick before), Gerald Green, Joey Graham, and Warrick. I believe that NO ONE argues at the time that the Nets should have taken David Lee or Maxiell. There were some calls for Simien. Anywho, McCants has been hurt until this year, and while he can hit the 3, he can't do anything else and he commits a ton of turnovers; and Gerald Green and Graham are both terrible. For the rest of the draft, there are few standouts. With the exception of Grtanger, none of those other guys would really help--and I can understand why he passed on Granger, same reason ten other teams did. In contrast, look at 2001, with the Armstrong selection: The very next few picks were Raul Lopez (?), Gerald Wallace (!), Sam Dalembert (!), Jamaal Tinsley (!), Tony Parker (!!), Trent Hassell, and Arenas (!!!). You'd have a nice little team there.

He's a mediocre NBA player, but teamed with Kidd he might have been a good bench player.
