We've had plenty of opportunities to see what problems plague this team in their losses, so what went right in this win? This is how I see it:

<ul>[*]Krstic: We finally had another solid rebounder besides Boone. He didn't score a lot, but he was efficient in terms of hitting the shots he did take and getting to the line.[*]Kidd: Took his game to another level. Not to say that his previous triple-double efforts were nothing, but Kidd was playing like a mad-man in terms of pushing the tempo, making obscene passes, and hitting the open jumper.[*]Team-Defense: it was miserable in the beginning of the second quarter, but clamped down after that. We did a great job defending the perimeter for once, too![*]Carter: After he came back he was attacking the basket, and making the tough lay ups like he was 'pre-ankle.' I'm not saying he's 100%, but he's been playing noticeably better.[/list]What do you guys think?

Krstic - Nenad just being on the court is a bonus. He spreads the floor even when he's not scoring and his height is really a bonus. We need more actual 7 foot centers on this team. We always play better with bigs.

Kidd - A lot less stupid passes and more offense by driving to the net.

Defense - When we were up by 15, Mavs hit like 6 shots in a row but we made them shoot two's which we could match on the offense.

    Carter - attacking; enough said.

You forgot the name Sean Williams.

In addition to the pretty stat line and the couple of highlights... it may not have been for a long period of time, but for a portion of this game, SWAT shut Dirk down. I don't know about you, but I had a brief KMart/Antoine Walker flashback.

And also, I want to see SWAT and SWIFT (Nets marketing guys, get on that!) on the floor at the same time as Kidd for significant minutes at some point. I think really good things would happen.

Plus they also worked hard to limit the effectiveness of Josh Howard. That was also pretty telling.

Frank will never ever not in this lifetime give significant minutes to Sean and Stro to play together. He is sold on one of the bigs to be a shooter. Garbage time only or when in foul trouble.

The irony in all of this is that he is not sold on his SHOOTING guards having to be shooters. Granted we dont have any of these, but having malik allen knock down a jumper or two doesnt come close to what stro can potentially give us

Man, I don't know what to think anymore.

By the by, Kidd shot 3-13, 2-5 on threes. Only three turnovers, though.

i still believe in this team... we just needed some more pieces. We were a 49 win team when we had a healthy krstic in addition to our "big 3" . Tonight, krstic showed signs of his old self with his spin to the baseline post move on howard. I think with sean williams swift(who i'd like to see MORE of) and boone we have a significantly better frontcourt than our 49 win team we had a couple of years ago. What we are in need of is a pure shooter that can run, possibly dahntay jones is the answer, but i was thinking of a jason kapono/damon jones type of player... or maybe magloire for giricek. Antoine wright isn't a good shooter at all, we really need someone that can spread the floor right now(possibly visit the allan houston scenario again? maybe that way we won't need malik allen too) I think with a good shooter to backup vc or possibly even having vc come off the bench like ginobili, we can start the running game again with swift and williams/boone in the beginning and when its time to sub kidd out, have a half court game with vc boone/williams and krstic. Kidd also has looked happier the last 2 games... seems like he's actually having fun right now(a point in the game, marv albert said kidd was runing around like steve nash, which he was... he circled around dallas's court), where the nets don't depend on him all 48 minutes.

    Wow...was Krstic all we needed?

Btw, Sean looked great off the bench. Maybe that's just what he needed..?

I think that would be really cool to see. All the alley-oops and thundering dunks you could ask for!

Swift has 2 shots as a Net, both about 8-10 foot jumpers, both swishes - for those of you who say he can't shoot!

    SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFT.

How exactly does someone become a Stromile Swift fan? Did you know him in high school? In college? Were you subjected to 40+ hours of dunk highlight brain reprogramming? How does something like that happen?

Playmaking was the difference, there was such a talent gap between Kidd-Barea/Terry, that this had to be exploited all night. When Barea couldn't match Kidd, Terry got the call, but when Terry got the call, the Mav's off ball guys can't shoot worth a darn, then the Nets packed it in with a zone / matchup Dirk defense, it was game over. It was like us defending against ourselves, just pack the paint and dare anyone not named Dirk to hoist 20 footers.

Swift isn't that bad of a shooter and Sean is improving. The better Krstic gets the less Allen we will see and more Swift. As long as either Carter or Nachbar are hitting shots. If things go cold, shich happens often on this team, then there will be more Allen. One more reason to trade Magloire for another shooter.

What about when SWAT and Boone were both starting? If Swift shows he's got the goods, he'll get time.

If Frank has shown anything, it's that he's not afraid to switch which bigs are getting the minutes.

And he rewards those that play well. Unfortunately we haven't had many of those.

Some are already in the highlight thread. I just finished downloading the rest of them, and i'll have it up on youtube pretty soon.
