If I was an older man who knows how playoff series are won and lost, I would be a grouch about it too. After the Grizzlies-Lakers trade, my projection for a Spurs-Lakers series changed from 4-3 Spurs to 4-2 Lakers. You can't have a trade committee because it could not be objective. It could never work the way Popovich is thinking.

Besides, none of that deals with the amount of talent the Spurs dumped in the trade. Pop is complaining because the Grizzlies did a talent dump for financial gain when he made an equal difference in talent dump for even more financial gain.

Popovich and Cuban are both cheap ass bastards, they didn't want to pay luxury tax something that Buss was up for so thats probably why this deal even happen because other owners didn't want to pay luxury tax.

A lot of trades are based on timing and what young talent you have, if you have big expiring contracts, how much your owner can add in salaries, etc. I'm sure if Cuban the Laker's roster and had Mitch as GM he would have OK'ed adding Gasol without thinking twice. Mavs currently have the biggest payroll at 94 mill, which is quite a bit over the luxury tax line.
