<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Bynum, while rehabilitating his injured left kneecap, has been busy with off-the-court matters back home in Los Angeles.

Bynum has signed on with William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills to represent him in off-court marketing and endorsement opportunities.

The group will work in conjunction with Bynum's agent, David Lee, who will continue to work on his client's on-court deals.

Bynum can sign a maximum deal of five years, $75 million this summer with the Lakers.</div>

As much as I love Bynum isn't 75 million a little to much?

Not if it means locking up our future all-star C.

However, I'm hoping he'll sign for about $10-$13 million/year. But if you think about it, Kwame got paid $9 million this year. Bynum is light years better than Kwame Brown ever was (I've followed Kwame his whole career).

I hope we can get a discount on Bynum too, but if have to max him out then we gotta do it.

I don't think you can compare him to Kwame. We all agree Kwame is overpaid and the reason why is the fact he was selected #1.

I wasn't really comparing him, I was just saying that Kwame got paid $9 million and Bynum's effectiveness is much more than Kwame's, so simplified Bynum's contract >>> Kwame's contract.

Well I'm guessing that was the contract Gasol has, and I think Bynum will have a bigger impact on the floor over the next 5 years than Gasol will.

If the Lakers lose Bynum to free agency because they won't match a max contract, then I don't know what their gameplan would be.

I don't even think that's an option. We're going to pay Bynum whatever he wants, it's obvious that he's been our future since we drafted him. Mitch and Jim Buss are extremely high on the kid, and are the only two reasons why he wasn't traded for Kidd or O'neal.

They'll give this kid the master key to STAPLES if he wants it. Letting him walk in free agency is not an option.

I laugh at the though of Bynum leaving us due to free agency. If it came down to it, the management will trade Kobe and Gasol for expiring contracts just to keep him. There is absolutely no way Bynum leaves us. I'm not worried at all. My only worry is that we'll go crazy and sign him to a huge contract

so you consider signing Bynum to max at 75 mill over 5 years a crazy signing? (the most he can get) and a huge contract?

If that is what other teams are willing to offer him would you let him walk?

I'm not saying it's a huge contract, but like previous posters have already mentioned, I'm hoping he will get around 10-13 million per year. Signing him to a 5 year deal worth 75 million is a shitload of money. He'd be getting 15 million per year for the next 5 years, which is franchise player type of money, and I don't think he's there yet. Keep in mind that if he signs a 5 year deal, by the time his contract expires, he will only be 25 years old, reaching his prime. That is the time where we should be offering 5 years for 75 million IMO. But either way, overpay or not, we have to keep him. I'm just hoping we can sign him little cheaper

Reaching his prime? He'll still have 3 years to go before he hits his prime. That's the scary part...

The Lakers will resign him, regardless of what he asks. That's really the end of the story. It's not everyday that you can get a big man with the amount of talent he has. And to think, he's still only 20 years old and hasn't even touched his full potential. I think in a couple years, we could be looking at one of the top 2 centers in the NBA, and a guy who could end up being the next Shaquille O'Neal minus the lazy ass work ethic.

Lakers will resign him for whatever they have to. Bynum wants to be the big center in LA and I think he'll take 10 million a year to play alongside Bryant and Gasol.

Odom will be the odd man out to make room for Bynum and a hefty contract. Odom is too expensive for a 4th option once Bynum returns. He'll be gone IMO sometime next season.

Mitch will somehow find a way to sign bynum not for the max amount since i think he's pretty good in managing the cap... im 60% positive LOL

    ^ i agree

Seriously... relax guys... i really dont think Bynum will leave simply for money... and come on, 12 - 13 M / year playing for the lakers right now is better than 15M a year playing for the #@%$#@%$#% LOL

However, i think we still have a chance at signing odom for 7 - 9 M a year. No other team would want to sign him for what he's earning now with his skillset.
