I wouldn't have said it that way but yeah, I agree. You acquire JON and you're just taking minutes away from your most effective players (Boone/Smokey), and giving minutes to your least effective players (Wright/Marcus). Two steps back.

maybe if we get Granger back too. Otherwise I can't think of a single positive. Vince is much better, much healthier, a much better clubhouse influence, and we are a lot weaker at the wings than down low. Vince even makes less money year to year, and is only I think about a year older. and we're throwing something else in too? We don't have a contract terrible enough to make it worth it. maybe if we get couple picks too, I'd consider it. But if we don't get Granger or multiple picks, **** no to this.

Found out a perfect trade for everyone:

    Nets get:
    Marquis Daniels
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Jamaal Tinsley

    Mavs get:
    Jason Kidd
    Darrell Armstrong
    Malik Allen

    Pacers get:
    Vince Carter
    Antoine Wright
    Maurice Ager
    Jason Terry
    Erick Dampier
    Jamaal Magloire

Every team does not enter rebuilding mode and it really is good for all teams to satisfy the needs and demands of each team.

Only reason I would ever trade for Jermaine O'Neal is if we were keeping Kidd and making a run for the playoffs.

Even then, I'd feel that for all of his troubles in the playoffs, trading Vince Carter for O'Neal would not make much of a difference, at least not positively.

One thing you can say for this team, they have Boone and Sean, who bring something that no Net playoff team has seen since probably 2004. Shotblocking, rebounding, athleticism down low (aside from Curly).

Why would we trade for O'neal? He's only 29? That's pretty old considering he's injury proned and came straight out of high school...12 years in the league is a long time.

Carter is 31, Oneal is 29
about 1 and half years older than O'neal

Carter has played in 667 games.
O'neal has played in 716 games.

So while Carter is the older by almost two years he actually has played in 49 less games than O'neal.

LOL. No offense, but what a horrible trade. The nets have to keep JON until 2011, therefore missing out on the lebron and dwade sweepstakes. I understand dumping JKidd and VC's contracts, but dude, you can't take an even bigger contract on with lots of years left.

BTW, I think a trade for VC for JO is horrible. JO is a HALF-COURT player like VC, and is injury-prone so it won't work. If you trade RJ or Kidd for JO I'd do it because you have your 'big' post player and VC in the half court set which is what the Nets need come playoff time... VC for JO is just more failure in the making for the Nets...
