    But you have to realize, Trenton Hassell is a good defender, Deaven George is, Eddie Jones is to some extent. With this trade, our center rotation becomes Dampier/Juwan Howard (who is really a PF). Sure Dirk can play center, but not for an extended amount of time.

    Ok seriously dude, I'm about to cry. I want Kidd to have a better opportunity at championship with the Mavs, but at the same time I don't want him to be traded, either.

    So much for Cuban's comments about not looking to deal for Kidd.

    -Petey</div>

    Not necessarily. Putting two picks together (maybe one NJ, one Dallas) can always be used to move up for one pick or used in trades with other teams. Nice assets. I also like the fact that we are getting rid of Wright in favor of Stackhouse, even if only temporarily, and Allen. With no Allen, Frank can't use him.
    </div>

    Last 5 years, able to count how often a team with more than 1 pick has bundled to move up? And about to count the number of times that a team with 2 picks haven't traded up?

    The picks are really worthless unless a miracle happens in Dallas.

    -Petey
    </div>

    is Boone worthless ?

    is Sean Williams worthless ? (don't answer that)

    draft picks in the first rd. are very valuable, look at the Lakers where they got Farmar or NY when they got David Lee...
    </div>

    Yea, if the staff does their homework.....Williams was actually 17th. Cuban said he will give Kidd an extension of 20 million. That takes him to 2010. An aging Kidd, Nowitzki and Howard taking up what 50 million of the payroll in 2010, no draft picks little lux tax room....the 2010 pick doesn't look to be too worthless. Thorn got a fair to great deal for Kidd. I can see VC sticking here and being the focal point of the offense.

    i think watchin kidd in action against his team, made him rethink things over.

    kiki was working his magic before the game, im very happy about this because i feel like we got fair value for him in return and he will have a legit shot at winning a championship with dallas. I'll be rooting for him and the mavs to do good.

    For every Boone/Williams, Thorn has drafted Zoran, Armstrong, Collins, with later picks. Are you able to name the 27th and 28th pick in the last 5 drafts and list their contributions? I'm not so sure that Thorn is gonna find that Lee or Josh Howard, as some of you may be.

    Furthermore I hope you're not trying to say that a combination of Harris and a player of the caliber of Boone or Williams is as good as Kidd.

    Look at the trades made this past year. Want to better your team? Move depth for quality. Gasol for what? KG for what? Allen for? Shaq for? The Nets are on the other end of that equation.

    Yep.

    The Nets got worse not better, this deal is about Harris and the future. The Picks IMO are worthless.

    Thorn drafted Sean Williams and Josh Boone he was the final decision, even took Stefanski under his wing, Kiki is a very good talent evaluator and will be picking the next kids in the upcoming draft. He also got the ball rolling on this deal to Dallas.

    I don't like this trade...but..I'll put it like this:
    I don't like this trade at the moment. I'd rather it happen during the off-season if possible. I truely believe the Nets were actually this time slowly starting to turn things around with Kristic coming back and Swift coming. We needed to tweak our bench a bit for now.

    There are repots Diop is going to be bought out instead of Stack. I'm not sure how true any of this is, I'm hearing different things.

    I feel what you are saying, you did not want to trade a young good pg for an aging one but trust me, if Kidd can play like we think he can, you will change your mind.

    While fair to call him that off the court, his behavior on the court in any uniform after his 1st go around w/ the Mavs is pretty unfair. Look at the guys what want to play w/ the guy, and the list of guys that wanted their team to trade for him just the past 2 years.

    we ripped them off

    Devin Harris is a stud 24 years old and cheap
    2 1st round draft picks
    3 mill cash to buy out stackhouse
    and expiring contracts

    and now kidd will get 20 mill extended which will pay him 50 mill for 2 more years and the rest of this year

    What happens on the court reflects what happens in the lockerroom, too. That's one reason this was the best they could get for him. I refer you to Dave D's recent trashing of Kidd.
