Stackhouse or Diop is expected to be released, I'm not sure which, hearing different things. The trade also sends Antoine Wright for a 2nd rounder.
That IMO is a very good trade for the Nets because if they choose to rebuild short term this is perfect because they now have a ton of 1st round picks, expiring contracts and some keys players which could guide them in the future. Now all they have to do is dump VC's contract and they could start fresh.

Kidd, however, still has a couple very good years left in him. As for the trade, I think the Nets are crushing Dallas in this trade. Kidd has only a couple good years left in him, Devin Harris hasn't even hit his prime. Plus, I don't honestly think the Mavs better themselves. Sure, Kidd is nice, but he isn't going to help them where they need it, and that's in the post. You trade away Diop, you only have one true post player, and that's Damp. While you might not consider him to be important, he's still a serviceable center. He's solid on defense and can rebound the ball. Kidd, while he's a solid rebounder, isn't about to hop in the paint and defend Timmy D or Yao. If the Mavs give up Diop, they're going to get killed in the post by players like Timmy D, Yao, Bynum, Gasol, etc. But, I don't care. I'm a Lakers fan, and I honestly think this trade makes them worse. If they want to hurt themselves, go for it. However, I do find it ironic that the Lakers made a huge move, and now Phoenix and Dallas are following suit to keep up. Aside from that, I find the fact that Devean George, a meaningless player in this trade, is screwing over both sides. Who'd have thunk it?
"Because Wallace is overpaid and is quickly hitting the downside of his career. Kidd, however, still has a couple very good years left in him." So is Shaq, and Miami is in the best position now that they've been in for awhile and got Marion. As for George being the sole reason for this trade "not happening"....Go Devean > _>.
George is going to end his career... pretty impressive. As far as the Nets and Mavs, not a big fan of the trade for either of them. I don't like Kidd, though I don't think the Mavs gave up anything terrible for him, but I don't see the Nets easily unloading Vince and moving on.
