What's the point? Are the Nets still looking to make noise in the playoffs? Getting rid of Carter is a fun idea, but what exactly is O'Neal going to do for us?

    No!

We're building for the future remember. JON on this team means less PT for Sean, Boone, Krstic, and Swift. Hell no.

I don't think we are going to be good for the rest of the year whether we havfe VC or JO. But, who would get more back in a trade down the road? Or who is it easier to build around next to Harris?

I'd much rather have JO than a broken down VC.

[IMG] Knee problem just about ends talks for O'Neal - Dave D'Alessandro - Star-Ledger

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NetsDaily)</div><div class='quotemain'>Meanwhile, it appears any deal for Jermaine O’Neal or Devin Harris is dead.</div>

Possible since Harris deal was also "dead", but unlikely.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Star-Ledger -
The Indiana Pacers and New Jersey Nets have been discussing a trade involving <u>Jermaine O'Neal</u> on-and-off in recent months, but the deal appears to be dead, according to the Star-Ledger.

According to a source close to the Nets, the team isn't against swapping <u>Vince Carter</u> for O'Neal, even if Jermaine is due nearly $45 million in the next two years.

However, O'Neal's chronic knee issues have derailed the deal.</div>

You know how Rod is with those knees...

JO's more broken down than Carter. and more expensive. and worse. and a bigger cancer. and at a position we need less. I'd much rather keep Carter and see what he can do.

I'm saying, after this year we are not getting anything in return for VC. Lets take advantage of it now. Even if Thorn wants nothing to do with JO. We can easily move JO to a team looking for one more piece before the playoffs.

Broken down VC? JO has two bad knees, it's been reported that the deal is dead I rather have a shooting gaurd with a bad ankle then a big man with bad knees, more so the front court would be WAY over crowded

Complete opposite, you wouldn't be getting anything for Carter NOW. Everyone knows he's underperforming (at least earlier), and injured. He'll have more value in the summer once he's healed and teams that have been bounced out of the playoffs will be desperate for a solution that will help to put them over the top or in serious contention, ie. Carter.
