<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>“I’m happy with my roster, but I’m still looking for something that might help us,” Ainge said. “I don’t really have any specific things I’m hunting for. “I like our team, so in order for me to do anything it has to be something good. I never say never, but I like our team.”</div> Source He's not fooling anyone when he said he doesn't have anything specific he's looking for. We all know that a backup point guard is the #1 priority and an extra center wouldn't hurt. We're loaded at the 2, 3, and 4. As for trading, I don't think we will be making any this year. We simply don't have that many tradeable assets besides possibly Tony Allen, and I certainly don't want to deal him for a one or two-year rental backup point guard. I think Tony has a lot of talent and I think he has returned to last year's form. He's the type of guy I want to keep here long-term to replace Ray when he moves on or retires. As long as he and his agent don't go overboard and ask for a too expensive price tag, I think Danny will try hard to bring him back this summer. Other than Tony, what else could we possibly package? Nobody is going to take Scal, and he's really the only guy that can help us match salaries financially. Everyone else is on a rookie contract or the veteran's minimum. If we're going to make additions to this team, it's more than likely going to have to be a buyout situation. But hey, who knows? This is Danny Ainge we're talking about. He's certainly not shy around the trading deadline, and we've seen him pull something out of nothing before (Jiri Welsch for a 1st round pick?). We'll see what happens.
Maybe Minny will cut Antoine. I do agree about the whole trading thing. Perk makes the most money after the big three, but moving our Center is not a smart move. Tony Allen makes sense, but he's playing way too well and I don't believe we'll get anything great for him. Scal makes the most sense financially (as in matching salaries), but no team will take him. Of course a first rounder could be used to sweeten the deal. We'll see what happens.

We packaged our 2009 1st rounder in the KG deal, and I know that there is a rule about not allowing franchises to trade their 1st rounder two years in a row... which is why so many people wait until draft day to trade the rights to players rather than trading the pick itself. Can anybody clarify that rule, and if the Celtics are allowed to trade another pick this year? EDIT: Also, something was just brought to my attention. We still have a trade exception of $1,080,480 from the Delonte West deal. We could package that exception for a veteran point guard making somewhere between $2.5-3 million. I haven't looked over the options, and I doubt that happens, but I think there is a small chance we use that exception by next Thursday.

I guess the only way would be a 2011 1st rounder, which may be worth something when Pierce, Allen and KG are old men.
