Devean George won't back down, or so they say. So what are the options. 1. Make George a promise or find some other way to get him into the deal and do as planned: two trades a) Kidd and Allen for Harris, Diop, George, Ager and Stackhouse and B ) Wright for a second round pick and a trade exception worth the value of Wright's salary or $1.9 million. Less and Less Likely even with Thorn meeting with Bartlestein this evening. 2) Do a three-way deal that either sends George to an acceptable third team for a player who can then be packaged to the Nets in a separate deal: Patrick O'Bryant for Wright could work, I think. VERY unlikely. 3) Replace George with players on the Mavs roster suitable to the Nets, like Juwan Howard and Nick Fazekas or Eddie Jones and Nick Fazekas. Only problem is that Jones has a player option and has said he would require before accepting a trade to the Nets...and the Nets have rejected the other combination. Unlikely as well. 4) Replace George with KVH. A $2 million contract, pro-rated for the rest of the year, would do the trick. But it would also mean the Wright deal would be off. Cuban doesn't want to add even more money to his luxury tax commitments and doing this would do that. Wright wouldnt be needed to make the overall deal work. Most likely scenario in my opinion. 5) End the Madness, as Devin Harris calls it. The most UN-likely scenario.
#4 is the only way i really see this deal gettin done at this point. cuban has enough money (hes a billionaire) to pay the extra luxury tax this would actually benefit the nets, becuase it leaves them with an extra expiring contract(wright) to play with if we do the memphis deal
NI, Option #4 would leave the nets with 16 players. I suspect this is why that Boki+Magloire for Mike Miller rumbling suddenly heated up.
If this does not happen then we were owned by a scrub. We cannot get a better player for Kidd other than Devin Harris IMO. The next best thing to Harris is just having Kidd expire which won't happen because Kidds agent won't let it happen.
According to the newest ESPN Trade Machine software, the following modified deal works: New Jersey Nets OUT: ($28,679,210) J. Kidd J. Magloire B. Nachbar A. Wright M. Allen IN: ($17,987,968) D. Harris D. Diop M. Miller M. Pietrus Dallas 2010 1st round pick Dallas Mavericks OUT: ($17,241,003) D. Harris D. Diop T. Hassell J. Stackhouse IN: ($22,179,210) J. Kidd B. Nachbar A. Wright M. Allen Memphis Grizzlies OUT: ($8,376,194) M. Miller IN: ($8,350,000) J. Magloire T. Hassell Golden State Warriors OUT: ($3,470,771) M. Pietrus IN: (Trade Exemption) J. Stackhouse Future Dallas 2nd round pick Cash (from Dallas) In this version of the deal, Nets aren't plagued with having to buy out Stackhouse, so they pass that cash and the 2nd round pick on to Golden State, which has a trade exemption that covers all of the incoming salary differential from Stackhouse. Stackhouse fits their system well, and they are playoff bound, and this allows them to get a veteran with playoff experience for Pietrus, who has been disgruntled all year over playing time and lack of scoring opportunities and who will undoubtedly go elsewhere next year as a free agent. Grizzlies get the 2008 Dallas 1st rounder and an extra $4 million in cap relief for the next couple of years by essentially swapping Miller for Hassell. Dallas gets two wings who are familiar with Kidd and at their best (such as it is) running next to him, and they (uncannily) are both shooting better than Stackhouse this year. They both expire and offer some cap relief next year in place of Stackhouse. Nets get nearly $11 million in (unprorated) cap relief this year and pick up a superb shooter and nice all round wing in Miller as well as a very athletic wing with a lot of upside in Pietrus, a guy who could likely be resigned next year for reasonable $ or let expire. The acquisition of these players make the trade of RJ in the offseason very feesible.
How bout option 7) putting a gun to Devean's head and telling him if he doesn't accept the trade, we'll blast him. Or not. Still, I like the idea of sending George to another playoff team, such as GS (Don Nelson doing Cuban favors?), Denver (outside shooting, defense....what George was known for, right?), or any playoff team looking for some cap relief next season (we could give them Mags or someone like that, too!). Anything to make this trade happen. Please!! link <-according to this, Snyder would like to be traded. Think George would like to go to Houston? We could pull this off...preceded by a Wright trade.

memphis wants a pick or two from the nets which suddenly have a lot of (after the kidd trade is completed) that's why the miller trade suddenly heated up between the two teams...
