Vince Carter is and always will be a star in the NBA. He will go down in history as the greatest dunker of all time and one of the greats of his generation. Anyone who believes otherwise is in denial. The question now becomes, is Carter at age 31, USEFUL to the Nets organization right now. Not whether or not he is a star.

I mean, you've got Kobe, Paul, Nash, and Allen Iverson. And for some reason, coaches felt the need to add in Roy instead of Davis. Maybe it was because the way the Warriors started out the season (without Stephen Jackson)? IMO Carter's "star" is dimming, and anyone that can't see that is in denial. He's definitely not the player he used to be.

When people think NBA they think Shaq, when they think high flying dunking guards they think wade, carter, T-Mac. This is a senseless discussion because it is subjective.
It's plain and simple: Vince is a star, when he wants to be. Or as Joker said, he's got star talent, with the mindset of a role player.

^^^ nice 1st post.. anyways yes, i think he is. he didnt score over 15,000 pts and is the #4 active scorer in the NBA because he has no heart and no passion for the game. he has a lot, and i mean a lot of haters. his blessing of being a genuinely nice guy is also his burden for having people continually scrutinize his every step. with age, its a given that you lose your explosiveness. nobody can debate that. but he still is, for me, a very very exciting player who brings a unique flare to the game and is a joy to watch.
