<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>With NCAA sanctions looming, Indiana University may be looking for a new coach very soon. Kelvin Sampson appears to be ready to pursue other opportunites and names of replacements are being floated. Jeff Goodman of FOX Sports thinks he has the right guy, Indiana alumni and Bob Knight acolyte Lawrence Frank. Frank has given no indication he plans to leave.

Perfect scenario. It's all on Frank now. Thorn doesn't have to fire him. Frank decides his destination.

As much as I have bagged on Frank in the past, he would be a great college coach.

I doubt Frank leaves though. He is no Billy Donovan. [IMG]

Better he yell at college kids than full grown working professionals, some of which are of the same age as he.

But would he be able to recruit high school kids to come play for him? Sure he'd be an ex-NBA coach but he doens't strike me in the mold of the Billy Donovans and Jay Wrights of the world.

Being able to say you were Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson's coach will be influential in recruiting high school athletes...especially since he's been in the playoffs every year as a head coach thus far.

Would Sampson be a better NBA coach since he wouldn't have to worry about recruiting?

I am not familiar enough with Sampson to say how he would fare in the NBA.

Frank, however, is a great teacher of the game. Add that to his youth and enthusiasm, he would great at the collegiate level.

One thing you know about Frank - he will NOT cheat.

He would run the cleanest, classiest program possible.

I think parents would be thrilled to leave their kids in his hands.

Frank would make for a great college coach.

But why would he go there? Doesn't make sense for him to leave to me.

Unless, of course, we're still with Kidd after the deadline.
