<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Nets believe Dallas should take the hit, because the Mavs have bungled the deal from the start by agreeing to the deal last Wednesday without knowing George's intentions. Moreover, Dallas has a delicate team chemistry to consider, because the status quo is likely to cause problems in the Mavs' locker room, if you listen to Dirk Nowitzki.

The Mavs, meanwhile, believe the Nets are just as desperate to finish the deal, because Kidd has already punched out mentally on their team, and it makes little sense to prolong the inevitable bust-up. Additionally, the Nets were making out better financially in the first place: The original deal sliced $11 million off their cap next season, and the inclusion of Hassell still makes it a $7 million gain -- well under the luxury tax.</div>

If the deal doesn't go through, do you blame Thorn for not blinking?

Thorn will never find a better deal anyway. Why being stubborn? C'mon, finish this **** off!

If Thorn doesn't do this deal, he will have a lot of angry fans and a wasted season.

I would not blame Thorn one bit " the Nets were making out better financially in the first place: The original deal sliced $11 million off their cap next season, and the inclusion of Hassell still makes it a $7 million gain"

I would blame Thorn if he caves in and takes Hassell or if he refuses a more reasonable modification, e.g., Van Horn. I wouldn't mind keeping Stackhouse, if that were to ever be the compromise, but then you couldn't get Mike Miller, who I much prefer. But I still think the deal happens in a format that is at least as favorable to the Nets as the original deal.

The Mavs should take a nice bite from the shit sandwich they so lovingly prepared. Why should the Nets have to eat it?

Dallas screwed it up, the Nets should not compromise at all. Every single penny under the luxury tax is crucial for this team (and most other teams for that matter). I think they'll need a third team in this trade to take Hassell and give the Nets another expiring contract.

...as well as young scoring point guard and 2 first round picks which we won't get anywhere if this deal doesn't go through.

I read the 3rd year of the deal for Stack is not totally guaranteed. It's why the Nets rather take Stack, they have better leverage on a buyout.

Thorn, don't blink! Cuban is a billionaire who has a team just for fun. If he really wants Kidd, he will pay, its just fun money for him...he will just drag this out because as a businessman he wants the best possible deal, but in the end he will throw his money at this deal to get what he wants....just my humble opinion.

The question now will be whether they buyout Hassell and he goes back to Dallas, even though I'm sure Dallas doesn't really want him. Also whether the side deal for Wright goes through. I would guess no on the latter.

then you STILL have the roster space issue. Hopefully, the second deal for Mike Miller will clear that up.

that's what I'm thinking too. they may not have done this deal if they weren't close to getting Miller...perhaps this trade will come "out of nowhere' like the bibby one did.

Well, you know when you see a guy driving a Bugatti Veyron and you think it's pretty keen so you ask him where he got it and he tells you so you call up and order one and you think it's all cool but a few weeks later they call you back and say there's a problem at the factory and there might be a substantial delay and would you settle for one in orange and you say "no I don't want to spend $1.5 million dollars on a fucking orange car" and they say "that's fine maybe you can pony up another $250K and we can get you the carbon" and you put them on hold and you start thinking maybe I don't need a Veyron the Enzo might be getting a little stale but hey it's still really fucking fast and it's never going to stop getting me laid no matter what I do so your mind just kinda wanders and you start thinking about maybe buying all the seats for the Super Bowl and just sitting in the stands and watching it by yourself and you forget why you even ordered the Veyron in the first place?

This is kind of like that.

the modified deal will still save the nets $7M and even if dallas did check with george first before the trade, that only means devean will exercise his no-trade rights anyway so the mavs would have to offer this same modified trade...take it thorn! get mike miller! target lebron/bosh for 2010-11!!!
