    What Now?
February 18, 2008, 12:05 am The Nets have done something few NBA teams do: trade away a future Hall of Famer–and arguably the best player to ever wear their uniform–in mid-season. With 30 games left and a roster that has undergone a significant makeover, what can fans expect? Can they make the playoffs with this revised roster? Will other players be dealt and for whom before Thursday’s trade deadline? Fasten your seat belt.

Some will say, let's tank. I say, just keep fighting. If the Nets do decide to keep Vince around, I want to see how far they can go. As a Nets fan, I'm just not used to giving up like that.

Well actually, I only started to watch the NBA when Kidd was traded to the Nets. Up until that point, I wasn't at all interested in basketball. Now with Kidd heading to Dallas; I'll have to root for him there, but I'm not forgetting about the Nets, either. Their still my favorite team.

See you been spoiled. The old Nets teams won't had only given up, but hurt themselves in the process too.

    hahahaha...
I remember in the 90s when we had Cassell, Rony Seikaly, Jason Williams, Kendall Gill, KVH and then trade for Marbury...I was so hyped on those teams...every year I was saying this is the year we break out and end the curse...

Before Kidd we had a stigma worse than the Clippers, Players who were supposed to be all time greats Derrick Coleman, KVH floundered, players with potential got hurt Jayson Williams or just plain quit Stephan Marbury.

It all ended when Kidd came...for that I'll always be thankful to Kidd.

    Yes, I have been.

I think we're all praying that the current Nets doesn't turn into a POS franchise they were in the 90s. The past coming back; that would suck.

I remember the Nets trading for the gimpy Seikaly, Feick who worked his way up from a 10 day contract to a multi year deal to go down to a career ending injury, same to Jayson Williams, trade me taped on sneakers.

I thought it was great, so much more rewarding when they did make the playoffs.

I doubt very much this team decides to tank I doubt Thorn and Frank allow this team to give up, I'm sure Thorn will meet with the team when they get back from the break and let's them know what is expected from them here on out, maybe this will help the team focus now, the distraction of Kidd is gone

I'm in the same boat as Kidd.

Though I've been twice as spoiled. I've been a Syracuse fan since forever...and you know them with Jimmy.

I really thought we were gonna bust through and do some good things in 99 after the 98 season...we actually were pretty competitve with that Jordan's Bulls...and then yeah...everybody got hurt.

I don't think this trade is happening so the team can give up.

by that I mean the trade is happening, but the purpose of it is not for the team to give up and tank.

sorry, I couldn't sleep and posted that at like 4:30 this morning.

If Carter takes this as a challenge for him to lead this team on his own, he may even start playing better.
