<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Hey, I live in Arizona. I have got great respect for Senator McCain. Great respect. But I don’t like the way the Republicans are taking this country. Every time I hear the word "conservative," it makes me sick to my stomach, because they’re really just fake Christians, as I call them. That’s all they are. But I just — I’m going to vote Democratic no matter what.</div>

The Alabama Govenor's race in 2014 just got <u>really</u> interesting.

I see him as a former Republican who is pissed off on where the party has gone in the past twenty years and how the neo-cons have taken over Washington.

I think a lot of people feel that way, and let's face it, with the fact that McCain is having a hard time uniting the party right now and that Barack Obama, if he wins will be an immensely difficult candidate to deal with, the GOP is in disarray right now.

Neither party represents the middle and Barkley is correct about the people that have taken over and killed the Republican party

Neocons & Religious right has fubared the GOP. The Democrats try to pander to everything & minorities (minorities, labor, PETA, the Greens, etc...)

Its the lobbyists/special interests that have corrupted the system. Its still We, the people, right?

Righto about the Democrats. Thing is, they don't deliver on their promises.

I have to agree with Barkley that those who call themselves "conservative" aren't really conservative at all. True conservatives, like Reagan or Buckley Jr. or Barry Goldwater are near extinct - maybe Jack Kemp is the last of them.

Neoconservatism has little of the appeal of true conservatism, and the social attitudes of the religious conservatives flies in the face of the libertarian bent of true conservatism.

As for the Republicans, I'm not sure they're that much different a party from the 1960s at this point.
