I'm too lazy to post the article or a link, but an article on LAtimes.com states Ariza is behind schedule, originally due back in 4 weeks, he is 8 WEEKS AWAY.

Bynum is still at least 3 weeks away.

My gut feeling tells me we won't be seeing Ariza any time this year. Oh well. We're deep at small forward, so although we will miss his defense, we have the depth to make up for it. At least Bynum is on schedule

Ugh, talk about some crap news. Oh well, thankfully, as already mentioned, we have depth there, and even moreso, thank god Bynum is still on schedule. At this point, he's the more important piece to the puzzle so I'm wanting him back a lot more than Ariza.

Well, Ariza, Odom, and Mihm's contracts are expiring next year so that could be useful at least. Ariza has missed about 50 games in the two seasons prior to this one.

Don't even THINK about dumping Ariza's contract. He's a fan favorite, and can become the other perimeter defender we need next to Kobe. I would only take Odom back if he takes a paycut, say, $8M/yr.?

So what, Ronny is a fan favorite too but we can replace him easily. Ariza is injured too much and has never played more than 23 minutes a game over an entire season.

Eff that. I'd bring every single player back except for Mihm (who isn't really a part of it anyway.) I love this team.

If certain role players can't stay on the court, are unproven, or overpaid, then it doesn't matter if they leave. I think Ariza qualifies for the first two things I said.

I completely disagree, Huevon. Sure, he might not be able to stay healthy, but when he can...he's our best SF.

I read in the Press-Enterprise that Ariza was only 4 weeks away. Either way, one of these major papers has their shit fucked up.

    Do we really disagree Mamba?

I also think he's our best SF, when he's on the court at least. Sure it would be nice to keep him, but I don't want to put all my dreams on "upside", or conclude that he will start for us in the future on a consistent basis. If he leaves, whatever. There are plenty of guys like him; the Lakers don't have any real SFs aside from him that's why people freak out.

Sure, his track record indicates he isn't capable of staying on the court and he is unproven. I'll grant you that. That doesn't mean he isn't a worthwhile investment at the right price. His value is evident in his defense, slashing ability, and really, he's a good guy that the fans and his teammates seem to like. Most importantly, he's a known commodity, and that's something that's valuable in itself.

We're not really disagreeing about anything then. I just focus on the negative with him because I'm tired of "potential".

As Laker fans, I don't think we've got room to talk about being tired of potential. Majority of us were ready to ship Bynum's ass out for Kidd, now, I don't think there is one Laker fan who'd do that deal.

Lol hey wait, I'm not Voodoo Child, I wasn't a Bynum hater.

There's a difference, Bynum was the youngest player in the League last year and a former lottery pick. Ariza is slightly older and a mid second round pick. There were more indicators of Bynum's untapped potential. If we lose Ariza it is unfortunate but no biggie. He also regressed a bit this season and doesn't play as tough a position to scout for.

I'm still waiting for Voodoo Child's input on that Gasol trade.

I remember him saying countless number of times that the Lakers would have to trade Bryant for Gasol, and he bet his life that it would never happen.
