This has been rumored for some time now but I just heard it on TV and it seems to be an actual possibility. After the Devils had such success in Newark there is talk about creating an expansion team in Newark since the Nets are leaving New Jersey. There has also been talk (which I don't believe at all) that since the Hornets are looking to leave New Orleans that Newark could be their destination. Is there any truth to any of this? It would be pretty cool to have an expansion team in Newark. It would be heaven if the Hornets came to Newark . If this actual did happen how long would it take to make the team? And how do you get players on the team I was too young to really pay attention to what the Bobcats did. Newark Hornets 36-15
What television station did you hear this? I agree that the Prudential Center would be a great place to house an NBA team, but I doubt the Nets, Knicks, or Stern for that matter would allow it. BTW the Hornets can opt out of their deal next year ONLY if they don't draw more than 14,500 a game.

Hornets aren't going anywhere. They're in negotiations with some charter network, that can bring in some more fans in, but those idiots are playing hardball. Ownership is confident they'll get a deal done tho.
Chill guys I said the Hornets aren't comming to Newark it was just discussed I know it's bull but an expansion team is a possibility. It's a reach, but it's a possibility.
Stern will never deal with New Jersey politicians again after the Newark fiasco. The state government had its chance and they pissed it away.

Fan attendance too low for the success the team had, even though the arena was in a shit location.

New jersey dosn't deserve a team, and thats coming from a person who lives in new jersey and almost cried when they said the nets were moving to NY. Nobody shows up to the games, its horrible.
I think if the product is worth seeing, a team can sell in Newark. It's super super accessible in many ways- cars, bus, and of course the train statin/path. The complete opposite of the Meadowlands. I'd love for a basketball team to be there.
