<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Rockets reached agreement on a deal that will send Bonzi Wells and Mike James to New Orleans to get guard Bobby Jackson, individuals with knowledge of the talks said. The deal, which has grown to include minor involvement of the Memphis Grizzlies, is pending league approval, with a conference call is scheduled for today for the NBA to review the trade. The Rockets will make the move to add Jackson as a veteran point guard to play behind Rafer Alston, sending Wells to the first-place Hornets while getting New Orleans to take on the two seasons and $12.7 million remaining on James' contract after this season. Jackson is signed for $6.1 million through next season, potentially offering the Rockets the roster flexibility they did not have this season. The Rockets will also receive rookie guard Adam Haluska and either their own or New Orleans' second-round pick, whichever is greater. They had previously been sending next season's second-round pick to Seattle to complete the trade for the pick they used to draft Carl Landry in the 2007 Draft. Memphis will receive forward Marcus Vinicius</div> http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports...kn/5557975.html
Couldn't they make this deal before the Mavs/Hornets game? Jackson completely torched the Mavs from downtown.
I'm sure Adelman's glad to have Bobby back! That probably was the reason for this trade. Sort of surprised they gave up Bonzi, though. I think this was a good trade for both teams, but especially for the Hornets. Bonzi should be good for them, and James should come in and fill in right where Bobby left off.
I like it, for the most part. Houston gets someone to take Mike James' contract off their hands and gets a real energizer to replace him - who also happens to have a contract that expires a year sooner. This may even open up a little bit of time for Francis. I really like it for New Orleans. Byron Scott talked about adding bench depth a day or two ago, and he got it here. Bonzi gives them a completely different look than Mo-Pete or Peja, and he should be a nice change-of-pace swingman to bring in. James, as we know it, can flat out shoot the ball. It'll be interesting to see if Vinicius can earn a little playing time in Memphis. I like him, he's very active and might be able to bring some energy for a few minutes per game. Solid deal for all parties involved.
Yeah, I agree with CB32 and Jumpman. Bonzi is so strong in the post, among other things, he adds a real new dimension to the Hornets.
