After joining the Miami Heat, he said Dwyane Wade was the best player in the game, even though LeBron and Kobe are WAY better. After joining the Phoenix Suns, he said Amare Stoudemire is the best big man in the game. So, he's saying that Amare is better than Dwight Howard(yeah right), Bynum, who destroyed Amare in all 3 games, KG, the best big in the game period, and Duncan, who seems to always have his way when Amare is guarding him. Seriously, I don't think Shaq really has a very high basketball IQ. There's no way in hell Amare is even top 10 best big men in the league right now.
if you dont think amare is a top 10 big in the league then your retarded. Shaq doesnt have a low basketball IQ at all, hes just hyping up his team. Shaq has been in the league a long time and knows how to get his teammates to play better. on top of that, shaq is kinda a shit talker so take it with a grain of salt.
Come on dude, all that talk is meaningless anyways. Is he supposed to step in that press conference and say "Amare is a good big man, but Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, Kevin Garnett, etc., are much better than him. Here's why....." ?

The other players on that list are real PFs/Centers. I don't know how anyone can definitively say Bynum is better than Amare with his short body of work and less impressive empirical contributions. Let him continue to develop first. What Shaq says doesn't matter either.
You're the reason why Laker fans are hated. Such a moron. Just because Bynum destroyed Amare in 2 matchups (not 3, kid), doesn't make him a better big man. I'd say he's got more potential than Amare, but definitely isn't better than him right now. By the way, we've played the Suns 4 times--not 3, and Bynum has missed two of them... What the **** do you expect Shaq to say? Amare's alright? He's hyping up his teammates, get over it. Everybody does it. Duncan, KG, Dwight, Bosh, and Amare are the top big men in the league, IMO.
OK, maybe I overreacted a little bit, hyping up his teammates, OK. And maybe I miscounted games, so sue me. And maybe Carmelo isn't a conventional "big man." But still, I'm sticking to my guns, Amare is NOT a top 5 big in this league. I don't have anything against Amare, but I think he is an overrated basketball player who thinks he's better than he actually is. If you remember, during the summer in the Olympic qualifiers, he said that he really thought he was going to win the MVP this season. Maybe the title of this topic should have been "Amare Pisses Me Off." When he first came into the league, he was a great player, and I loved to watch him. But, ever since his injury, he isn't as good as I remember him, he seems a lot slower, he takes 3s when that's not his game. He's not a very intelligent basketball player, just a terrific athlete. Mark my words: Amare won't ever even be considered a competent MVP candidate in this league. Not now, not ever. Also, check his interview from after the 3rd game when whoever the report was asked him about Andrew Bynum, and see his cocky remark and his smirk on his face. ZERO respect. And yes, I truly think Bynum is a better basketball player than Amare RIGHT NOW.

You're wrong about Amare being "slower" or not as good as he used to. He has better per minute production this year than any other, and he's having his most efficient and best season. Why is Bynum a better basketball player "RIGHT NOW" as you so eloquently put it? Slow down there.

Yeah, I'm sorry guys, but I used to be a HUGE fan of Amare, but now he comes across to me as an overconfident, cocky player who thinks he's a lot better than he actually is. He probably puts himself on the same plateau as Kevin Garnett. If a mod. wants to close this thread, be my guest. I do understand that Shaq is just trying to boost his confidence as well.
