So to all those members that were posting last week about trading RJ because his value was at his highest and his numbers were only goin to decline after kidd left, what do you have to say now ? Past 3games post kidd era: 24pts , 34pts, 36pts! still want to trade him?!! -hes a cornerstone of this team which we should be building around, definitely not someone who should be traded

I don't take back or regret what I say at all. I'd still do a trade for Travis Outlaw and Rudy, along with picks and maybe some filler/expirings.

n=3. Against the Bulls and Pacers no less. Besides, the argument was that RJ is injury prone, can't carry an offense and makes too much money. That's still all true.
Richard can get 25 plus a night if he consistantly hits his jumper. It gives him a mix than driving every play.
If we could get Travis Outlaw, Rudy Fernandez, and a couple of picks from Portland, I think that's a no-brainer. I certainly wouldn't give him away.
There still hasn't been enough games to determine if RJ can be consistent without Kidd, as Ly_ying pointed out. Even then, it wouldn't discount the argument. While we're rebuilding we could capitalize on a 28 year old who's hit his peak. Additionally, it doesn't help RJ's cause that he doesn't have the brand name to sell tickets in Brooklyn, although look where that's getting Vince. Personally being a fan I don't want to see him traded, but I wouldn't say his recent play has removed his name from trade consideration.

I am happy to say that he is proving me wrong. While I wasn't among the more anxious to trade him, I did think his efficiency and productivity would substantially drop after the Kidd trade, partly because he was already in a decline the last several weeks (bad shooting %) and partly because I thought he would get frustrated and feel more pressure in the half court offense without the same number of break opportunities. That hasn't been the case thus far. This is one time that I will be ecstatic to be proved wrong. And if he plays the majority of games from here on like he's played the last 3, he's worth his salary, and any trade for him better bring back some serious talent.

All he's doing is upping his value for the offseason. I'm all for that. He played very well tonight, but last night he was atrocious. Even tonight his defense was not terrific. I can't understand what happened to him. He's officially become a bad defensive player. Really bad.

Really bad.</div> Ooh. Tough crowd. I thought he was very decent tonight defensively and his 4th quarter/overtime defense against Chicago was stupendous. But I agree he was not very good last night. I will offer that he is carrying a much heavier burden on offense than ever before. And except for a very, very select few players at the 1-3 positions, that takes a lot out of you physically. It's draining to have to cut that hard and cover that much ground on both ends of the floor, which is why I've always thought folks were a little too hard on VC's defense.
RJ is the last man from the teams that went to NBA Finals and he's been in the playoffs throughout his career. Players are usually at their peak from ages 28 to 32. His value right now is that he's at the beginning of his peak and his seeming loyalty to the team.
