I'd still do a trade for Travis Outlaw and Rudy, along with picks and maybe some filler/expirings.</div>

So is this how it is going to be the rest of the season? Making knee-jerk, emotional responses based off of a couple of games?

WOOT!!!! Marcus Willaims and RJ for 2009 All Star Starters WOOT!!!!

I think the only reason this thread was made was because Marv Albert pointed out the RJ's stats. Otherwise you guys probably wouldn't have even noticed.

RJ is a one dimensional scorer with bad defense at this point in his career (see 36 points ,2 rebounds 0 assists, 4 turnovers) . Nothing has changed. Based on his youth, he is the one this team needs to trade. You compare him to the other swingman on the team, Carter , who, post- Kidd is averaging 24/8 and 6. You can see that one simply makes his teammates better, while the other has assumed the 'pure scorers' role. If you trade Carter and keep RJ in the offseason you are losing the far more versatile player.

It all depends on your philosophy...do you believe we will be able to contend for a championship in the next year or do yo think we need probably 3 more years of development?

If the answer is next year we obviously keep RJ.

If the answer is 3 years than both RJ and Vince need to be moved...

technically speaking knee jerk reactions can go either way..so then Cpawfan is correct in asking if we're going to keep making them, for example if RJ goes 6-42 over the next two games do you suddenly want to trade him? Or Boki for example...on Friday he scores 22 and we're all talking about him like he's the sixth man of the year...today he sucks.

I think he is saying maybe we should just wait until the end of the season before we start spouting off about how much a player is great or how much a player sucks.

    Overall unrealistic...but not wrong.

He is taking something completely out of context again.

Last year at bbf, as a way of finding out out how much value Blazers fans placed on RJ, I asked if they would be interested in a Webster and Magloire for RJ swap. infinet took it out of context then and now.

</div>Trading Carter over RJ is based on two things--he's 31 therefore he will decline earlier than RJ and VC also has got a longer contract at that.

    Those are the positives.

The other side is that Carter is the better player and he'd bring back less in a trade.

Carter gets $4M in 2011 if the team doesn't pick up his option.

Looking at the differences in salary leading up to 2011. It's slightly more than the LLE per season.

By 2011, 4M might be less than 2/3 of the MLE.

I know it sounds like big money, but look at what teams have moved around this season. It's really not alot of money unless you are talking about a franchise who has to penny pinch...
