<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>MMAMania.com has learned that UFC Welterweight contenders Mike Swick and Marcus Davis will more than likely be squaring off at UFC 85 on June 7 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Davis has strung together an impressive win-streak, finding victory in all of his last 11 bouts. His last loss came at the hands of Melvin Guillard at The Ultimate Finale 2 in November of 2005. In recent interviews, “The Irish Hand Grenade” has made mention of his desire to take some fights against more well-known opponents. Mike Swick should be a formidable opponent for Davis, both in high-status and a higher skill level than Davis is used to facing. Mike Swick recently made the drop in weight from Middleweight after falling short against Yushin Okami at UFC 69: “Shootout”. He made a less-than-stellar Welterweight debut against Josh Burkman at Ultimate Fight Night 12 in January, but still found victory after a controversial split-decision. He must perform impressively against Marcus Davis to cement himself as a major contender in the UFC Welterweight division. There is plenty of motivation for both of these fighters heading into this bout. Look for a possible “Fight of the Night” candidate, even amidst the main event between Chuck Liddell and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.</div> dang, both these guys like to keep it standing and bang so this should be a good one.. Swick won't have to worry about the takedown in this fight and he should have adjusted better to the weight drop.
looks like it's official. and even though Swick is not ranked, he's a top prospect based on his performance at 185 IMO and his record. Here's hoping he's more aggressive than his first fight at 170. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Marcus Davis vs. Mike Swick Signed for UFC 85 A UFC 85 fight between surging welterweight Marcus Davis (14-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and former middleweight contender Mike Swick (11-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) has been signed and now appears official. Joe Cavallaro, who represents Davis, confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that they've signed a bout agreement for the fight. Additionally, Swick today confirmed on MySpace that he has also signed on for the fight. UFC 85 takes place June 7 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Chuck Liddell meets Rashad Evans in the night's main event. Rumors of the Davis-Swick fight first popped up in February. Davis, a former professional boxer who's transformed his overall game since appearing on "The Ultimate Fighter 2," will go for his 12th straight victory, including his seventh straight win in the UFC. Although blessed with quick hand speed, Davis has finished six of his past 11 victories via submission. He currently splits training time between his own gym in Maine, Team Irish Mixed Martial Arts, and Jorge Gurgel's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu center near Cincinnati, Ohio. Swick, who emerged as a middleweight contender after appearing on the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter," recently dropped to 170 pounds and scored a majority-decision win over Josh Burkman in his debut as a welterweight. Swick said he was unhappy with the lackluster UFC Fight Night 12 performance -- as were the booing fans who watched the fight. "I didn't do what I should have in my last fight, and even though it was a win, I took it as a (loss)," Swick wrote. "I can't wait till June 7 to bring back my old self, who goes out there and gives the fans a fight to tell their friends about."</div>
here's the fight card so far. Not all fights are confirmed by UFC. UFC 85: JUNE 7, 2008 IN LONDON venue: O2 Arena in London, England -Chuck Liddell (#4 Light Heavyweight in the World)* vs. Rashad Evans -Fabricio Werdum (#6 Heavyweight in the World)* vs. Brandon Vera -Nate Marquardt (#6 Middleweight in the World)* vs. Thales Leites -Marcus Davis (#10 Welterweight in the World)* vs. Mike Swick -Martin Kampmann vs. Jorge Rivera -Ryo Chonan vs. Roan Carneiro -Thiago Tavares vs. Matt Wiman -Jess Liaudin vs. Paul Taylor -Luis Arthur Cane vs. Jason Lambert -Neil Wain vs. Antoni Hardonk that's 4 very good fights and 3 intriguing fights with Chonan/Carneiro, Tavares Wima and Liadin/Taylor. Looks like they're giving Lambert and Hardonk a chance to improve and stick with the UFC as they're getting new guys to tune up on.
Like to see Vera get a win. I like Werdum, but Vera's arguably the most exciting HW. ....Last fight doesn't count, because he had a broken hand and a 260 pound wet blanket on him

If he beats Werdum I hope we see a #1 contender fight I've been waiting for--him vs. Arlovski. That would be GOLD.
