BC was on with Chuck Swirsky today and claimed that while he hadn't seen Roko Ukic play this season [its likely that Maury and our other staff have followed him closely], the buy-out is expected to take place and they'll bring him over this summer and make a place on the roster for him. With our limited budget he'll slide in nicely. This probably means that D-Mart is D-one with the Raps as a player. Ukic was drafted by the Toronto Raptors in 1893 and has been fine-tuning his game in Europe for the past 115-years. Another interesting note is that BC "suggested" that Dixon talk-up the Raptors on his way out of town. Good!
I was down on Roko for the past couple years, because he didn't seem to be able to really step up his game like everyone expected when he joined the major clubs in the Euroleagues. However, he's been better this season at Roma when he hasn't had to fight top-level players for minutes. I still see this as a wildcard move. Roko's got a lot of talent and I'm hoping he'll benefit by playing an NBA style that he may actually be better suited for. If so, it'd spark his development. On the other hand, I could just as easily see him being in Sam Mitchell's doghouse, because they're some very raw parts to his game (his defense, at times his distributing, etc.). Anything's better than the Martin/Dixon nightmare, though.
this will be scary is he turns out to be good, like even calderon last year good, would be good enough for me big time
i guess the point is that we won't know what we got until we see him suit up and play 48 against the best. either way, as it has been suggested, it's gotta be an upgrade from the McNugget combo.
