If it's Marvin and Horford vs. paul and most likely a scrub than yes. Horford has a chance to be a top 5 big man, Marvin will be a 20PPG scorer by next season. Paul is great(he's one of my favorite), but he's not gonna be the best PG for the next 10 years LOL. Not many small PG can stay healthy for that long.?

Hey, look at John Stockton. Allen Iverson. Even Steve Nash, who was an all-star before even going to Phoenix. Despite their size, they've all played at a very high level for a decade. Why should Paul be any different, especially since he hasn't had any serious injury problems so far? And let's take a look at the 2006 Hawks with Paul instead of Marvin:

The Hawks finished 13th in the East with 30 wins and 52 losses. Let's say Paul gives them another 8 or so wins, as a rookie with a lot on his shoulders. They STILL finish the season out of the playoffs, which means they're in the lottery, or the maximum they can do is make the playoffs as an 8th seed. Either way, they get at LEAST a low teens pick in the 2006 draft. Instead of drafting Shelden Williams with a 5th overall pick, let's say they pick the best player available with a 10th-15th pick: Ronnie Brewer, Thabo Sefolosha, J.J. Redick, Rodney Carney and Hilton Armstrong should all be on the draft board. None of them are scrubs, though Armstrong (minutes) and Redick (injuries) haven't been able to prove themselves yet. I'd still take any of them+Paul over Horford, as great as he is, and Williams. Horford won't be more than an 18/11 player, IMO, which is great, but not nearly as good as Paul is. Williams is a good player as well, but still, Paul+Brewer/Carney/Redick/Armstrong+mid teen's 2007 pick>Horford+Williams+Shelden (who wouldn't have been drafted by the Hawks, obviously).

lol. You are retarded. If the Hawks offered the Hornets Marvin Williams and Al Horford for Chris Paul, their GM would laugh in your face. Chris Paul is a legit NBA superstar, a franchise player, arguably the best point guard in the league, and an MVP canidate. Williams and Horford will never have that much success in their career. CP3 is the type of player you build your francise around. Williams? Horford? Give me a break.

Actually, I'd like to argue that Shelden would still be available in the 10-15 range, and the Hawks would still try to pick him. [IMG]

Despite the absolute idiocy in being happy with Marvin Williams over Chris Paul, o.iatlhawksfan would still probably make a better NBA GM than Billy King.

I agree and if we fire Woodson and hire Rick C, I'll have predicted the future.

    yes he has

You got your years mixed up, 30 win season was last season. In his rookie year, paul improved the Hornets to 20wins, his rookie years. Lets say he would have done the same for the hawks in his rookie year, which they were coming off a 13 win season. with getting Joe Johnson they would have been a 35-40 win team, and probably would have a pick in the late lottery. Where the hawks most likely would be looking at a big man, so your looking at a Cedric Simmons(who has turned out to be a bust.) That next year they would have improved a little a playoff team, and WOULDN't of had a pick, cause of the trade for Joe.

    So your looking at
    Al Horford+Marvin Williams vs. Chris paul+ a scrub(Cedric Simmions)

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>though Armstrong (minutes) and Redick (injuries) haven't been able to prove themselves yet.</div>

No they just both suck. Armstrong has had plenty of chances.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Horford won't be more than an 18/11 player, IMO, which is great, but not nearly as good as Paul is.</div>

There are 4 players in the entire league averaging 18/11, D.Howard, T.Duncun. C.Boozer, and Yao Ming, and neither one of the are nearly as good as paul?

And CP3 is averaging 20/10. There are 0 players in the league doing that, besides him. And he's better than all of them.
