Mar 02, 2008 04:30 AM Doug Smith Sports Reporter In other years an injury to Chris Bosh at this point in the season would be catastrophic; the best Raptor laid up with less than two months to go in the regular season. It could have been a death knell but because the Raptors have moved themselves right into the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff standings, losing their top scorer and rebounder is a bump rather than a black hole. "We do have a little cushion. It's not like we're out of the playoffs right now," coach Sam Mitchell said yesterday. "We're still in there and we just can't afford for this to turn into something more than what it is." The this that Mitchell referred to was a right knee injury that's got Bosh sidelined for up to a week. The all-star power forward hobbled out of the gym yesterday while the team was still working out. He went with the trainers to get some treatment, and while he'll travel with the team to Charlotte, Orlando and Miami, he'll go only as a spectator. "We're just going to give him some time," said the coach. "Our thinking right now, unless something different happens, is not to even play him these next three games, give him some rest, let it calm down." Take a deep breath, it will be ok.
Its not too often where you hear a team say that a freshly injured player will be out x-number of games. Seems like he's not too injured, we're just sitting him because our competition isn't great. Well, if we go 2-2 including the Pacers game, it will be telling.
If you have seen the replay you have nothing to worry about, he was just running down the court and then began limping and signaling to the bench to sub him out. If it is a serious injury I honestly have no explanation for it.
