Did anyone else hear JVG say some sources close to the Lakers that they aren't expecting Bynum back until playoff time? Also, Bynum said in his interview during the start of the second quarter that his swelling was still pretty bad in his knee (I'm guessing after running in the pool)...

dude, by misquoting people and stirring up stuff, this is how rumors are started ..... you totally twisted JVG's words .. he said he talked to A source .. not sourceS .. singular, not plural .. who is WORRIED - not the lakers, but that source HIMSELF is WORRIED - that Bynum could be out until playoffs .. not expect, but WORRIED, not the lakers, but the SOURCE .. the source is worried Bynum could be out until the playoffs. I think we are all WORRIED to an extent of that possibility. ..

Swelling is normal in rehab. You also conveniently left out the most important detail of what he has said today. Bynum said that when he comes back, it will have been 11 weeks since the injury ... Doing the math - date of injur + 11 weeks, it means he is fully expecting to be back Late March/Early April ... which seems on target with what everyone has been saying the past few weeks ...

    so no status change really

I am getting really annoyed of waiting for this guy.

The Lakers better prepare for the worst case scenario, pick it up Gasol.

I read that in an interview, Bynum said that he will be out an additional 3 weeks. The 3 weeks will be added onto his initial 8 weeks, which makes a total of 11 weeks, like nmg pointed out. And that will push his return back to late March, or early April. So nothing much has really changed. He says he still has swelling, but I don't think the swelling will leave until he returns to 100% (or at least that's what they said on CL)

nMg, I could've sworn that JVG said a source said the Lakers are worried, do you have a video clip of this? I was just posting this off memory...I'll go back and watch it in tivo if you can't find a video clip.

I also completely missed that part by Bynum, I was on my phone for his interview.

no clip, but regardless, the more important thing to note in what JVG said was worried .. he didn't say expecting. That is a huge difference. Expecting means the time table has changed. Worried just means that they are fearful of the possibility that he wont be back when they EXPECT him to be back. I think we all share that worry

Honestly, I'm not worried. We're 12-2 with Gasol. Things are clicking. Kobe is playing out of his mind. As long as Bynum is back in time for the playoffs, I'm happy.

^^^^If bynum can return and be half of the force he was, the lakers should be okay, but I think how far the lakers go really depends on how affective he can be in the post season....although Pau has been playing out of his mind, he's not much of a rebounding force down low.........they need Drew back.....
