<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Sam Cassell has cleared waivers, and while he is still a virtual certainty to become a Celtic, the club isn't rushing things.

The current plan is for the free agent point to fly to Boston some time tomorrow and take a physical. He will not, however, practice with the Celts tomorrow.

His first appearance in Celtic gear will most likely be at Wednesday's morning shootaround.

Sources are giving no indication on when Cassell will play his first game here, but Wednesday night's duel with Detroit might be pushing it.</div>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The two-time NBA champion is expected to sign a contract with the Celtics tomorrow afternoon.

But through a team spokesman, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said he expects Cassell to be a member of the Celtics.

Cassell is expected to be at the Celtics shoot around on Wednesday morning and is also expected to talk to the media then.</div>

Here it is, folks. Sam Cassell is your newest Boston Celtic:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Celtics are quickly becoming a gerontologist's dream - as well as an even better team and a more serious championship threat. Tonight, the final piece of the puzzle tumbled out of Waiver Heaven at 6 p.m. as Sam Cassell became a free agent. He has signed a contract with the Celtics, according to his agent, and will bring the paperwork up with him tomorrow from Baltimore to join his new team.</div>

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Celtics don't expect Cassell to be available at practice tomorrow. It's more likely that his first session with the team will be at Wednesday morning's shootaround. It's not known whether he'll be able to play against Detroit Wednesday night; he has been out with a sore wrist.</div>

    Welcome to Boston, Sam!

    this is indeed good news.
He'll be able to show young Rondo a thing or two, be an excellent back up at 15-20 mins a night and be available for clutch shots in close games.

He also seems to be a good locker room guy and doesn't have a huge ego.

    win-win all around.

I'm hoping this means we'll be seeing less and less time of Tony Allen and Eddie House fumbling the ball trying to play the point guard spot!

With Rivers however, I wouldn't be surprised if we still see those two running a circus.
