You have to wait until the end of the season when all the records are final. All the teams that do not make the playoffs are entered into the lottery, meaning they all have a shot to get the #1 pick. Basically, only the 5 worst teams in the league have a legit shot to get that pick, though, based on percentages. All the teams that do make the playoffs are then placed in ascending order with regards to record from picks 15-30. So, the worst team to make the playoffs gets pick 15, the second worst pick 16, the third worst 17, etc.

I don't understand why you come to a Nets board and trash the Nets. I'm sure there are Vince Carter boards where all you homos can lick on Vince's nuts together.

No, playoff records have nothing to do with the draft. The worst team in the playoffs is the team with the worst record. Which is what the Nets were when they drafted Antoine Wright with pick #15 3 years ago.

Best available talent, but if equal, guard.

Oh, I meant that you could get good value whether you drafted someone in each spot; tried to combine the picks and move up; or combine either pick with a player to move up. I think there are a lot of options for a GM. If they keep the picks, I think they could get a very good player at #10 that fits the Nets' profile, especially since the trend of most other teams is to take a freshman and/or a big man, so I think that who ever the Nets like will have a good chance of falling to them. If I had to guess, I'd say that the Nets will take a soph or junior swingman who is tall for his position, runs like a deer and plays some serious on-ball defense, is a complimentary part--not the primary scorer--on his college team which happens to be a major program in a major conference. They'd love for him to be a dead-eye shooter, but if they had to sacrifice something, that would probably be it.

They hit gold with that profile with Richard Jefferson; failed with Antoine Wright.

I don't know who it is. Chris Douglas-Roberts? Russell Westbrook? I haven't seen them play; just basing it on the profiles. I could see OJ Mayo also, who could fall due to questions a la Marcus and Sean and Josh.
