Deron has 14 assists at the half, and Utah is cruising over Dallas. Poor Jason. I guess it's "just not their night." Or maybe his teammates are "letting go of the rope." I wonder what he'll say to the press after tha game about it.

Interestingly, I don't think the Nets have fallen behind by double digits in the first half since the all-star break. Didn't that used to happen a lot?

I'm really going to miss him. The Nets are going to go through some tough times in the years ahead without Mr. Kidd to lead the way.

Deron had 19 the game before so not surprising. Still, pretty bad though.

Taking a shot at Kidd [IMG] or do you really think he's responsible for hindering a team?

Dallas is 7th in the West and almost out of the playoffs now. Their lucky they have like a 3 or 4 game stretch against easy East teams (except the Nets of course!) because otherwise their schedule is quite rough to close out the season.

draft question: if Mavs make PO from 8th place and somehow win it all what would be their (our) draft #?

Oh I forgot to mention. I don't know if anyone was the first quarter but when I was watching the first quarter the Mavs were getting pounded, down by 20. So they brought in Jamaal Magloire. First play he's in, no joke, someone passes him the ball and he fumbles it out of bounds. I couldn't help but just laugh.

Depends on what their record is at the end of the regular season.

If it's Xth, then our draft # will be 30-X...for example, if the Mavs end up with the 12th best record in the league, we end up with (30-12) the 18th pick.

Can't say I'm surprised. As a nets fan I've been trying to watch Kidd as much as I can and at least compare his boxscore stats to his opponent's PG. So far it's played out exactly how I and a lot of the members here though it would. Kidd can't defend PGs and his defense against swingmen is decent to good but very inconsistent. For a long time I felt JKidd was better than Nash simply because of his defense since they're both very even in the passing department. Now Steve's ridiculous shooting stroke (seems to get better with age) and his effort to play defense trumps Kidd's overall set of skills. The competition of PGs in the west also makes him look worse and I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me smirk. I just think Kidd is very arrogant and needs to wake up and realize that father time is limiting him and that maybe just maybe he was part of the reason why the nets underachieved the past few years. I mean the guy has been in the league for 13 years and he still can't shoot consistently while you see athletic, highjumpers like lebron or Iguodala have a respectable jumpshot.

I said this when the trade went down, I'll say it now and when the playoffs are over I will be sure to throw it in anyone face who says different all day.

The Mavs are not contenders with Kidd. Since acquiring Kidd the Mavs have lost to contenders and better Western teams (Hornets Spurs Lakers and Utah.) News flash to everyone who though Kidd would automatic make this team to a contender the West is better.

I don't need to say anything about the Lakers, The Spurs haven't lost since that Boston game and etc etc.

Kidd cannot guard fast guards and what has been shown since Kidd arrival with games against Paul Williams Parker and I will not even mention Kobe game's Sunday while Kidd was guarding him.

The Mavs made a gamble and they will pay dearly for it. After this season the Mavs have went from the Finals losing, first round exit and now trading away two young players for a 35 year old pg. Usually people lose their jobs with things like this transpire.

Also the Lakers are young so don't expect them to go any where anytime soon.

Kidd wanted to go out to the wild wild west.

I was watching that game. It really looked like that first game of the Nets vs. Jazz out there. It was an embarassing first half for the Mavs. Kidd must have been pissed. No team is going to win with Malik and Maglorie out there (especially at the same time)
Kidd has no chance against the point guards of the West, let's face it.
I didn't like that dirty foul from Dirk on AK47 either. Not to say it was intentional, but Dirk's probably letting his frustration out.

Well with the exception of Ford, Felton and Rondo (and now Harris, and i'm pretty sure i'm missing someone) the east doesn't have many quick PG or (GREAT PGs for that matter) which made Kidd's life so much easier. Now hes going up against allstars caliber players (again Kidd and Billups were the only true PG on the eastern team). Look at who he has to go against. Arguably the 2 best young pg's in the league in Williams and Paul. Quick allstar calibar veterans in Baron, Nash, and Iverson, and Parker who scores most his points in the paint. So when you go from the best players you are playing are Calderon and Billups to those 6 it will be tough, not to mention wen they ask him to guard Kobe like they did on sunday.

    quote from Parker

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Here is Parker verbatim following Wednesday's practice: "To be honest with you, I'm really happy for that trade. Diop was doing a good job on us. And Devin Harris, most of the time, he played good against us. So I thought it would be good for us. No disrespect to Jason Kidd, he's a great point guard, but those guys that left always gave us trouble."</div>

The Mavs play Kidd on PG's instead of the taller off guard or 3? And match up Terry on longer guards?

I think most people saw it coming, JKidd has lost a step and it has been pretty apparent since the 2nd half of last year

The games against San Antonio, Los Angeles, and Utah all went down to the wire and all of those games were on the road. It's too early to judge. If the same thing happens when Dallas is at home, then you can judge.
