<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>March is the month for drafniks. The NCAA Tournament is on and scouts are out in full force. Same thing overseas as the Euroleague and then the national leagues have their Final Fours. With the Nets having two first round picks and a second rounder, this March promises to be active for team officials and fans alike. We look at the early mock drafts and note the Nets have already scouted UConn’s 7′-3″ Hasheem Thabeet.

    He lost a bet...
Did Marcus or Boone ever play with him?

    Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Not another ugly UConn big man! Please! Oh god, please. I'm going to root for the Nuggets and the Grizzlies.

Wait, seriously now...why the hell are we scouting another defensive big man? What the hell would the point of that be? Jesus Christ. Let's pick up another high-scoring wing player who doesn't play defense while we're at it!!!

What do you guys think about Roy Hibbert? That guy plays primarily downlow too from what I remember seeing out of him last year.

Ew no to Thabeet or Hibbert. They're the Hilton Armstrongs and Saer Senes and Johan Petro's of this draft (although Hibbert is better, but is too soft)

I'll take CDR, or Donte Green.

I'd rather take two gaurds in the first and a European big in the 2nd and store him in Europe like Krstic.

I know we want to go young but we can't have seven players with three or less years of experince.

Guys I wouldn't mind no matter what happened though:

    Kosta Koufos
    Hashem Thabeet
    DJ White
    Bill Walker
    Ante Tomic
    Jonny Flynn
    John Riek

C'mon on man, Hibbert is MUCH better than Armstrong, Saer and Petro. It would be nice though to have a centre that weighs 280 and plays downlow for once. Not to take anything away from Boone because he's been doing an awesome job but he gets pushed around a bit downlow by the bigger players.

Yeah, and that's on the college level. Imagine going up against NBA bigs. I'm not saying its impossible for him to adapt a game, but he's too soft for my liking and that raises a red flag. Just because a player is a good college player doesn't mean their game translates against superior competition. Josh McRoberts was a similar guy last year, as was Gay-ry McNamerra a couple years earlier.

C'mon now, what's up with taking shots at Gerry? Just because he likes to smoke a cig every practice at the expense of his asthma and has the work ethic of....well, someone with a really poor work ethic; doesn't mean you gotta call him Gay! Overrated works just fine. [IMG]

BTW I meant Boone gets pushed around by bigger players but nevertheless I don't watch much college ball except March Madness and last year Hibbert impressed me. He was going to be a lottery pick last year had he come out (not saying that automatically means he's going to be amazing). Trust me, you don't need to tell me about how the college game doesn't translate to the NBA game. I've gone through many arguments with people telling them why so and so would be a better NBA player even if their an amazing NCAA player (JJ Reddick, Adam Morrison the latest).

I really hope we don't draft all big men. This team needs a swingman. any type of swingman will do whether it be defensive, sweetshooting, or slashing. Preferably this swingman will have all three of these abilities but that would be too much to ask for from where we're picking. I just hope Chase buddinger or nicolas batum fall or maybe we trade up to get them. Or maybe we trade for rudy fernandez. We need a pure shooter in the worst way.

they need a swingman off the bench, since Boki may not be back and Hassel clearly blows. How about Douglass-Roberts from Memphis? Will he be gone by mid-first round? He'd be nice. Westbrook from UCLA could be good too. They gotta get an accurate shooter at the 2 or 3.

Buddinger would be great, I've seen him play live a couple times. Great range, nice ups, too. But he hasn't shot that well from 3 this year. If he comes out, I can't imagine he'll still be around when the Nets pick though, will he?

Thabeet is a possibilty...especially if management feels Diop is going to ask for to much.

I'm not crazy for another big either...my guess is that they already are not planning to resign Kristic and will work with our 4 bigs now, and if we get this big he won't be getting any playtime next season.

one of the most reliable things in the draft is that generally big men get overvalued and swingmen get undervalued. A guy like Chase, a talented swingman that needs some refinement, is prime to drop. the only types of swingmen that stay near the top are the dominant player of the year types, like AI, Ben Gordon. Vince, Brandon Roy. Guys like Chase that are secondary guys on their teams tend to fall. I mean if a guy like Koufos (Ohio State Center) has a good march watch him skyrocket like a Patrick O'Bryant.

Don't we have two 1st rounders this year? I think we can get O.J. Mayo. His stock has dropped drastically b/c of the other frosh but he's still having a pretty good year. He's a natural scorer who has already been around the likes of Kobe and other stars so it shouldn't be a huge transition for him. Also I like players with atleast 2 years of college under their belt and Mayo went to Junior College before USC so he's got 3 years which to me has him better prepared for the NBA than the freshmen.

I'm hoping we make the playoffs along with Dallas so we get our 1st rounder and who knows maybe we can make some noise in the playoffs. Then I want to trade up our two 1st rounders for O.J. Mayo. [IMG]
