Dallas has lost all 3 games against 3 teams that they have to beat in the playoffs. I'm giving Dalllas a pass on their loss to New Orleans for obvious reasons. But those were promising losses (looking at the bright side). A 3 point loss to San Antonio, a 4 point loss to L.A. and a 6 point deficit against Utah. Games that they could have won. Still adjusting? I think it's a more a matter of consistency. They have made stops and runs. But they also had their lulls. Still a lot more to expect from this team. A lot more. Which brings me to Jason Kidd. Kidd aalways made it a point to make his teammates happy. Mission accomplished. But its time for him to look for his own shots. As cheerleaders would say, "BE AGGRESSIVE!". Enough of the "he's lost a step", or "he's turning 35" cries. In the last 3 games, Kidd scored 21, 15 and 19 respectively. Kidd hasn't lost a step. He now chooses when to use them. But it shows now that he doesn't use them enough. He can't wait like he did against Utah. Kidd scored 11 points in the last 1:41 starting it off with a 3 when they were already down 105-95. A little too late. I'm not complaining with that. Except that if he could have done it a little earlier. With Kidd scoring, it opens practically everything for him. At that point, he can pass at will. If he wants his chance for a ring with Dallas, he has to "re-wire" himself and become a scorer. As much as they need his leadership, it seems that they need a little more from him. And Kidd is very capable of doing so. If and when he chooses to.
it just goes back to Dallas not being able to close out teams and put the nail in the coffin...I don't think Kidd has to be a scorer, because they have plenty of offense (Dirk, Howard,Terry,Stackhouse,etc.)......Kidd has never been a "great" scorer to be honest so I think he'd be going outside of his realm if he tried to become more of an offensive force....Dallas's biggest problem is getting defensive stops and Dirk not having a legitimate post up game to go to late in games.........
