<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Throwdown Army member BJ "THE PRODGY" PENN headlines the UFC 84 card as he takes on Sean Sherk for the lightweight championship of the world on May 24, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV @ the MGM Grand Arena. BJ is back home in Hilo training hard for this fight and has brought in WEC champion Urijah Faber to help him train for Sherk.</div> Urijah is the 145 version of sherk, great wreslter, great takedowns, excellent GnP. This is a very smart move by BJ. Obviously he's motivated because he's never brought others in for a specific fighter before.
A big deal is made out of the fact that BJ has fought in different weight classes, but there is no doubt in my mind that he belongs at 155 and would do well to stay there. There is an endless supply of talent worldwide at lightweight and he could reign supreme for a long time.
man if Dana would step up and sign Gomi that would be an easily hyped rematch!! and it would keep BJ at 155 longer I do believe he'll eventually face GSP, he's dying for a rematch. Problem for BJ is, GSP is only getting better right now.
BJ will be just fine. Remember BJ lost the matchup via Decision to GSP but it was GSP who went to the hospital afterwards for the beating he took! I'm sure BJ is looking for revenge. Hes fought at 205 against Machida, 170, and 155. Won titles in both 170 and 155. He's no joke. A lot of people underestimate him because he's only 5'9. He has the islander spirit, and I expect him to go full throttle against both Sherk and eventually GSP.
Back to the topic at hand Sherk is a HUGE light weight. Well he was. Who knows how he look with "help". I'm not sure recruiting a 145er, regardless of skillset or ability, is the best way to prepare for Sherk.

This is actually pretty good news for big time BJ fans like myself. He's actually preparing for this fight. There have been times he's fought big names and not actually prepared adequately especially in the cardio department. This time he's actually motivated. A motivated Penn is an unbeatable Penn. I actually dont think Sherk will be as HUGE as he was before either. BJ is primed. I'm not concerned about his preperation. I think he'll be ready. If anything BJ is focusing on Cardio. Sherk is a cardio machine, so BJ's cardio is whats important. His skillset has never been the problem. But BJ has gassed out early before. This is a five rounder so I think he's focusing on Cardio more than anything else. Faber fits the bill nicely to get him moving.
