Sacre Bleu! Nets Open 2008-09 in Paris, London
March 4, 2008, 6:27 pm The Nets may not make it to Brooklyn for a couple of years, but they will be traveling to Europe next October to take on the Heat in exhibition games in Paris and London. The NBA is expected to announce the pairings later this month, with the Nets-Heat games expected to be held on Oct. 9 and Oct. 12. The Nets could also play an exhibition game against a European team on the trip. The European trip will also mean an early start for the Nets’ training camp.

WHOA !!!!! nice but i hate the expansion ppl trying to go somewhere else. im brasilian and i love futbeol (soccer) but futebol is worldwide and i feel theyre trying to take away from the passion of the sport by putting basketball there. BUT, as you know i like the nba and as long as the nets win im happy.

My gut tells me overseas games are going to be nationally televised so my question is: why did they pick the Heat and Nets!?

But he's going to be traded during the draft.

I'd expect something like lakers and cavs. Get LeBron vs. Kobe on the large scale like that

perhaps they're trying to sell the Nets as one of the NBA's main teams, once they move to Brooklyn, and they're probably hoping LeBron goes to Brooklyn. And this helps show the Nets off overseas, to a worldwide audience. Against the Heat, perhaps their biggest non-divisional rivals, who they have a decent chance of beating, who also have a marketable superstar in D-Wade, they may want to kickstart a Wade/LeBron rivalry. And the Heat did win a title a couple years ago.

More exposure for the Nets, who doesn't like that? I certainly do. Yet, I question why they would be playing the Heat.

For that heated Jason Collins and Shaq matchup.

Yeah, I don't get this either. Wouldn't it be a better idea to include English/French players? Maybe Bulls, Spurs, and whatever team gets Pietrus?

Who knows, maybe we'll get super lucky during the draft and get to pick Batum. He's French, after all.
