Recruiting Report | BaltimoreSun.com <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>• Fayetteville (N.C.) Jack Britt quarterback Everett Proctor picked up an ‘athlete’ offer from N.C. State earlier this month. But according to Proctor’s high school coach, a Terps offer at quarterback could bring a quick end to his recruitment. But while Proctor has an early favorite in Maryland, according to [Jack Britt coach Richard] Bailey, [offensive lineman Xavier] Nixon is still sorting through the options. “With other kids I’ve had here, you could kind of tell who they liked,’’ Bailey said. “With (linebacker) Wesley (Flagg), he liked (North) Carolina. I know if my quarterback gets an offer from Maryland, he’s probably going to commit on the spot.</div>
Recruiting: All eyes (and ears) are upon Britt lineman Nixon | The Fayetteville Observer <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jack Britt football coach Richard Bailey is looking forward to April 20. Bailey isn’t starting a vacation or taking the day off. But he will be getting a break from constant telephone calls from college football coaches seeking updates on offensive lineman Xavier Nixon. “On April (20), they can call him direct and I don’t have to be the go-between,’’ Bailey said. “It’s been crazy. I get one call right after another. “Florida State called today. Maryland called. Who else? Clemson called. He sat down and called six schools the other day during weightlifting class. “It’s like that every day. I’m glad I’ve got one of those unlimited cell phone plans.’’ Such is life when you coach one of the nation’s top prospects. Even though Nixon hasn’t completed his junior year, the 6-foot-6, 275-pounder already owns more than 30 scholarship offers from major-college programs, including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.</div>
Nixon Drawing Recruiters | Palmetto Sports <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>OL Xavier Nixon (6-7 270) of Fayetteville, NC has seen coaches from Clemson, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame and Alabama come thru his school thus far, and of course, many more recruiters will be thru before the end of the month. Nixon said Clemson recruiter Chris Rumph came in on Friday. "I talked to him the whole first period," Nixon said. "It's all starting to pick up now with the coaches getting out to visit. The in state schools are recruiting me hard. Miami, Clemson, Michigan and Notre Dame also are recruiting me hard. I'm looking for a place where I can do things academically. If I can make it to the NFL, that would be great. But I need something to fall back on. I'm also looking at how the place fits my style of play. And, do they want me to apply the same things I'm doing now.. And the comfort level is a big factor. I'm waiting on my father to get home from Afghanistan in two weeks before cutting my list to ten." Nixon visited Ohio State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Tennessee earlier this spring. Towards the end of this month and plans to visit LSU, Florida, Auburn and Georgia. And he might get by Clemson, too. "Coach Rumph invited me to stop by and he definitely wants me to," Nixon said. "I'm going to talk about it with my family and coach."</div>
Isn't going to be deciding for a while. Is ND's number one target on the board and we will be in the thick of this race until the end.
