Yes, he's inconsistent, frustrating, and plays little or no defense, but: --When Nachbar doesn't play, the Nets are 1-6 (includes the game he played just 6 seconds) --When Nachbar plays between 10-15 minutes, the Nets are 2-2 --When Nachbar plays between 15-20 minutes, the Nets are 9-9 --When Nachbar plays between 20-25 minutes, the Nets are 8-6 --When Nachbar plays more than 25 minutes, the Nets are 6-11. I think that last one can be explained away, because it indicates that Carter or RJ probably aren't playing as much as they should be. As for the others . . . it's interesting that the Nets are a .500 team when he gets regular minutes, despite his weaknesses. He obviously fills an important role that has been irreplaceable when he has been injured. The question, then, is: do you bring him back, or do you try to replace him with someone better?
not buying into it, there are many other factors to those wins and losses other then if nachbar plays a certain amount of minutes and such. it's pretty strange how easily people forget how horrible he was and now he's missing, people want him back again.

But if we generalize, it is interesting how big of a difference one mediocre shooter off the bench has made, because there are no other options that can shoot the ball.

Although marcus is coming around a little.
We NEED to pick up a better shooter, one way or another, in the offseason. Salim Stoudamire..? That'd be nice. As for Boki, we should definitely re-sign him....for insurance, at the least. If we could pick up 2 good shooters, tho, screw Boki. One big beef I have with him (more with Frank) is when we play him at the 4 for extended minutes, and when we don't use 2 bigs. Sometimes it works, but it seems like most of the time it hasn't worked for us. Why can't we just use 2 bigs, like other normal teams?

Why can't we just use 2 bigs, like other normal teams?</div> early in the year, the small lineups were working very well, often with Wright in there. I really have mixed feelings about Boki. I like him, he's a good guy, but he's terrible defensively and mediocre offensively. On the other hand, I'm not convinced that Rod Thorn will be able to find someone better in the offseason, so letting him go will probably represent a step backwards. We need shooters. How do we know that we don't already have one in Maurice Ager? He's probably around the same talent level as whoever we'll get with Dallas' pick. Why not give him a chance to play? Maybe he's been terrible in practice, who knows.
The more I think about it, the more I would like Boki to stay as a place holder of sort. A good shooter off the bench is going to cost a pretty penny, Thorn hasn't been able to get one in 6 years so I don't see him overpaying for one now. Give Boki a cheap 2/3 year deal with a team option until you find a long term replacement through draft or whatever. The Nets could do better than Boki in the off-season with James Jones or trading for Mike Miller but they will have to overpay and that doesn't make sense now with the Nets rebuilding.

That's why Malik was getting so many minutes despite his horrific defense. If Nenad keeps progressing it will help. That's why he was out there more last night.
Nachbar might be a brick shooter from time to time, but he still stretches the defense with his long range shots. Aside from him, which other role player is a good 3-point shooter? Boki is a streaky player, but when his shot is going in, that's when he can really hurt you. I personally would like to pursue a better shooter, and if we can't find one, then I guess we can settle for him.
i dont think nachbar has hit a game winning shot or even contributed in a one man dominate level... hes a solid role player but i wouldnt ride him that much

i wouldnt mind him being resigned for very little and being a 8th man, situational type shooter who gets 10-15 mpg depending on if he hits his shots but not as a 6th man and getting a scalabrine deal

Nenad was scoring well last night, and yet Frank felt the need to play just one big at the end of the game. And Sean has shown he can score in bunches, yet he's barely gotten playing time.
