There's nothing Winthrop can do. I've been watching for the past 5 or so minutes and this game has changed drastically. UNC Asheville's D has picked it up it's intensity.

How incompetent is Asheville's coach? Down 12 wiith about 8 minutes left, George got a rebound and outletted the ball. they raced up the court and launched up a three with George still at the other foul line. WTF?! Look at this. In that league, that's what the other teams look like. Even a good team like Winthrop. The idea is to win, not to look pretty. This is the only offense that team should ever run. George is also a decent passer! If they put four guys on him or something he can get the ball out to someone for a ridiculously easy basket.
Not 10 seconds ago they showed Kenny George coming off the bench for the first time. While standing up off the bench, he was already taller than the assistant coach walking past him before he stood up (he was bent over, and his waist was over his head).
haha he's such a disappointment. Watch him try to box out, and get pushed from his position without any resistance. The Sonics will still draft him.
I'm waiting for someone to say "Hey he averages 13pts 9 rbs in 19 minutes per game! He'll make it in the NBA"* *Sam Presti
This is the first time I've actually seen him play for an extended period. Thoughts: - His lateral movements are surprisingly swift and he seems very smart and crisp on rotations. Hes not going to be out-quicking anybody, not by a long shot, but hes always moving his feet in the paint and rotates correctly and with good fundamentals. He makes it work because guys are hesitant to come within 10 feet of him. - He takes a very long time to get going when running the floor and hes even very slow when hes in full motion. This is the biggest concern to me. His lateral quickness isn't too bad compared to other huge lumbering Cs like Yao, Hibbert, Shawn Bradley, etc. but they all would whoop his ass running the floor. - He has a big impact on college games because theres no 3 second rule. If he had to step out of the paint every couple of seconds it would be a lot easier to penetrate when hes in the paint. Even though he does make a big impact on the opposing team he still routinely gets worked by talented, athletic players. This is another concern as far as his NBA potential goes. Its clear that the college guys from big programs who are big, athletic, smart, skilled and used to going against pretty big players have little problem adjusting to this guy. NBA guys will eat him up because he is so slow. - His rebounding is lacking because of poor fundamentals. Often times when the shot goes up he just stares at it as smarter, smaller opposing players wiz by him for offensive rebounding position. If he boxed out with any consistency he could make rebounding a lot easier on himself. Right now he struggles to reach for rebounds because he sure as hell isn't mobile like most of the great rebounders. His sheer size allows him to do a decent job on the glass but if he wised up and boxed out he could be much more of a force here. - His footwork is pretty good. Hes constantly moving his feet on defense which is key for a guy who lacks quickness as is. Does a good job of fighting for post position on offense and when he gets the ball he looks pretty fundamentally sound in his post moves. Hes got good feet for a guy his size which is very good because the common complaint with these random gigantic prospects is they that are awkward and uncoordinated. Hes got the coordination, just not the speed, hops, or quickness. -He knows how to pass when being pressured. Hes not going to be like Chris Webber or anything but another thing big men often struggle with his passing out of the double team. This guy has obviously been seeing double, triple, quadruple teams his whole life so its no big deal to him. Not to mention he has no trouble with vision or anyone getting in the passing lanes. Overall hes a surprisingly smart player with some decent skills. His footwork and touch around the rim have impressed me for a guy his size but I'm underwhelmed by his end to end speed and rebounding. I don't think he has much of an NBA future because guys are so athletic they will have no trouble finding a way around him. Plus the 3 second rule is going to KILL him. His endurance is horrible and I don't know if theres anything he can really do about that. He looks likes hes got a pretty good body for a guy his size, hes not overweight or fat at all nor is he a string bean like a lot of freak prospects and hes pretty filled out with what appears to be mostly muscle. I think if he can really work on changing his body, gaining speed, quickness, becoming more lean then he can have a shot at being a gimmicky situational backup C. He might be worth a late second round flyer but in all likelihood I think he goes undrafted. Even in the second round I think teams would rather take a euro project or unheralded college player instead of a gigantic gimmicky guy with bad knees who is probably going to be 25 when he is ready to be drafted.
