Michelle Beadle had an excellent interview with Kidd, which they played during the Mavs game. Here is the best possible recap I have of it. Beadle: Did you have a migraine? Kidd: No. Got hit in the head in Cleveland, called Tim Walsh, I followed the guidelines. Beadle: Did you ever demand a trade? Kidd: No. Beadle: Did you ever ask for, or hint at a trade? Kidd: (sarcastically) Yes, I walked into Rod's office and asked for a trade. No, I asked to see if there was any moves to make this team better, and we looked at the pecking order of players we could trade... and there was the only one player of value. (to himself, smiles) This old guy here. Beadle: Rod Thorn talked about you playing without heart. Kidd: Well, last time I checked, Rod is not a doctor. (smiles, pause) Whatever opinion he has is his.
no surprise, nobody wants vince and an overpaid rj. this teams salary cap shouldnt be like this for the value on the court. good job kidd, tell it to the man.

Like I said, his low IQ makes it impossible for him to do anything but lie.

Well I hope he doesn't think this game here or the past three games suppliments his bullshit logic. Last I checked even with Kidd we didn't beat the Spurs, Mavericks, or the Hornets.

He came across like such a complete piece of garbage in that interview. He's still the greatest Net ever, the reason I am a Net fan in the first place, and most likely my favorite player of all time. Off the court... not so much.
He's not exactly wrong...he basically said he was the only one with trade value...well yeah. Lets be realistic...Sean and Josh were both trade chips but on rookie contracts and therefore difficult matchups in any trade, we had no large expiring contracts, Nenad was injured and therefore had little to no value, same with Marcus...Boki, Jamal, Malik Allen, Darrell Armstrong, and Antione Wright had expiring contracts and were therefore somewhat valuable but only in combination with draft picks and young players...Vince had been playing terrible, is in the first year of a long contract and therefore was at a low value. Only RJ had any trade value and realistically there was no teams at the time that made sense...we would'nt have gotten better through any trade so Kidd was the logical choice to go... That being said...I would have loved the Nets to explore keeping Kidd while grabbing Mike Miller...We could have sent Antoine Wright, Jamal Magliore, Malik Allen and our 2008 first rounder for Miller (They would have accepted) With the recovery of Nenad and Marcus emerging the team would have been a sleeper contender in the playoffs... Imagine this lineup with me... PG: Jason Kidd, Marcus Williams SG: Vince Carter, Mike Miller SF: Richard Jefferson, Boki Nachbar PF: Nenad Krstic, Sean Williams C: Josh Boone, Stromile Swift Would we have won the whole damn thing? Maybe not...but they would have had a shot. The great thing about a Mike Miller is that if Vince or RJ was having one of there off nights (which they seem to rotate) Miller could step in with 17 pts consistently...
Kidd is basically a one-dimentional role-player. The fact that he had trade value is just a testiment that there were some GMs that didn't see through the charade and understand that. Cpaw likes to say that in Devin Harris, the Nets didn't get a player that can be built around . . . but, in fact, neither was Kidd. Maybe the nets could have gotten more for him had they dealt him last year . . . but not much more. He is not one of the top five or six PGs at this point. If he wants to be an idiot and make snide comments about the organization that rescued him from the scrap heap, revitalized his reputation, and traded him where he ultimately wanted to go, then he is just showing his true quality, as Faramir might say. I am such a nerd.
