well im just wondering how you guys feel about the 2008 free agent class... and who you guys think we have a shot at making a RUN for. im not exactly sure what our cap situation would be this coming summer, but im wonder what are the chances of us signing a restricted free agent or unrestricted free agent. my personal choice would be monte ellis... but hes a restricted free agent and GSW are probably goin to lock him up with close to max money. there is also ben gordon, and deng... i dont think the bulls can afford to keep both. josh smith of atlanta is restricted... marion is a unrestricted... just want input and info on this years 2008 free agents.
In all honesty: Leon Powe Kelenna Azubuike Patrick O'Bryant Steve Novak Shaun Livingston Chris Quinn Craig Smith Randolph Morris Paul Millsap
Monta is going no where. besides you guys don't have the cap room nor the hot hand wax that Monta requires. If you need any more convincing I would say Harris/Monta backcourt is pretty damn small too.

randolph morris is the man. he'd be a fool to re-sign with the knicks just to stay glued to the bench all season.

Azubuike! I'd also like Craig "The Rhino" Smith. Maybe this is the summer Thorn FINALLY invests in younger, developing-player type free agents?
Matt Barnes would be perfect as the "new Boki" - more athletic, faster, better defender, can play the PF better C.J. Miles is a nice player flying under the radar (42% 3 point shooter), he's restricted so it might be tough to sign, but if you can get him cheap it'd be worth giving him a shot.

Monta Ellis. Nets wanted him in 2005, but not enough. How can he not be the top free agent this summer? The rest of those guys are marginal players who are unlikely to be any better than the Nets draft picks.

RJ's contract seems to be a good example of this effect. As far as I can tell, he's too short to play defense and doesn't really have any point guard skills. He seems like a more coachable, less talented Allen Iverson. In other words, the type of bench player that wins teams championships, and the type of starter who's never consistent enough to build a winning team around.
