Is it me or are the Warriors trying to make things exciting on purpose? At first I thought it was going to be an easy game, but wait... here comes the Grizzlies back in it. But the Warriors put them away with some gutsy shots and some well placed free throws. Ellis, Baron, Biedrins, and Sjax are huge reasons why I'm a warriors fan (hustle, heart, and big shots). Baron had a pretty good game despite his injured pinky finger on his shooting hand. Pietrus had another solid game and the bench played pretty well. Bonus! We got to see Wright play for 5 minutes... which is 4 minutes and 58 seconds more than POB's average. On the Memphis side: Mike Miller has gotten so much better as a player. Pass, shoot, drive. He's like Sjax without the defense, but with the rebounding. Glad he's on the U.S. team.
Didn't see the game but it looks like we played down to the competition once again. Pietrus has been great lately. When hes playing well I'll gladly accept the mistakes he makes because when hes got it going hes helping on the boards, on defense (man and help defense), hes finishing, and hes energetic. People forget he was very good for us the first half of the year last season before we made the trade. Nellie loved him but after we got Jackson, Barnes got into the rotation, Monta broke out, and J-Rich came back from injuries there wasn't much room for him anymore and he faded away. Hes gone back to having the same role though; rebound like a motherf*cker, play good defense, finish on the break, stand in the corner and shoot 3's (or pump fake and make one or two dribbles to the rim. Hell hes even making some nifty interior passes. I like a lot of the pieces the Grizz have. Miller is a stud. Deadeye shooter but also a pretty nice all around scorer with a mid-range shot and ability to drive. Like you said CR2, hes also improved his rebounding and passing a lot. Hes extremely efficient as well which is rare for a guard considered to be a shooting specialist. Also I've been high on Kyle Lowry since I saw him at Villanova. Dudes a legit PG with tons of tenacity, great defender, great athlete, penetrates at will, his jumpshot is improving. Hakim Warrick has been insane the last month or so as well. Hes averaging 15/8 since February. What the hell is up with Mike Conley though? Dude was pimped as being the next Chris Paul and has been underwhelming to say the least. I haven't seen much of him at all but you would think a guy with his skillset, passing ability, athleticism, etc. would be able to have some immediate impact.
Not a good game for the Warriors. Is it me, or does Baron have at least one airball a game? Like CR2 said, Mike Miller has improved. I'd like to see us get him. A consistent 3 point shooter. Warriors have to play better than this if they want to be legitimate playoff contenders. How'd you like seeing Brian Cardinal, Custodian?
