<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>During a Tuesday media conference call, EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw said that CBS executives would soon release details on the first-ever EliteXC-CBS event. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was the first to break news of the groundbreaking deal, which will put MMA on major U.S. network television for the first time. The deal calls for four annual events that will air in primetime on Saturdays. The official press release was expected Wednesday, and though it never came, ProElite.com teased some info, including a May 31 debut date. Additionally, a bulletin there said that the first event date will be promoted during this week's CBS coverage of the NCAA men's basketball tournament. Today, our friends at fiveouncesofpain.com posted some additional info about the event, including: The event will take place in Newark, N.J. -- likely at the Prudential Center, which played host to UFC 78 this past November. Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson will headline the event, though his opponent isn't known. EliteXC middleweight champ Robbie Lawler will defend his title against Scott Smith. Gina Carano is expected to fight at the event. (According to fiveouncesofpain.com. Kaitlin Young and Cris Cyborg are the leading candidates to fight her.) Brett Rogers and Jon Murphy will likely meet in a swing bout for the event.</div> Let's hope they have more than a typical tomatoe can facing Kimbo. Robbie Lawler vs Scott Smith = fireworks.
For being an exceptionally average fighter Scott Smith is going to be a very well recognized name in the sport. Should be a great fight. I'm really hoping that they challenge Kimbo. I suspect that he's going to get the "Brock Lesnar" treatment and get some old, out of retirement, once credible, but broke fighter to beat up on. I HATE that there is chicks on this card
meh could care less about Gina being on the card, saw her fight with Julie Kediez it was a good fight. I do hate the Kimbo will be the main event and ppl will think he's an elite MMA fighter..

They threw Brock in with one of the top HWT in the world. EliteXC knows when someone beats Kimbo he will be back to fighting on Youtube.

Probably explains why they are still waiting to name his opponent. Smith vs. Lawler should be a good fight. Hopefully Lawler is healthy enough to take the bout.

He hasn't won a relevant fight in almost 4 years. But I was talking more about Mark Coleman. We agree on the rest
