Thefightnetwork.com is reporting that Patrick "The Predator" Cote, unable to compete at UFC 83 in Montreal, will instead fight at UFC 86 on Saturday, July 6th, 2008, in Las Vegas. Cote is on a four fight win streak that has seen him defeat Scott Smith, Jason Day, Kendall Grove, and Drew McFedries. His opponent is supposedly going to be Ricardo "Cachorrao" Almeida, a Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt on a seven-fight win streak of his own. Almeida recently annihilated newcomer Rob Yundt at UFC 81, but has victories over Ryo Chonan and Nate Marquardt in his two fights prior. Whoever wins this one is very close to a title shot. IMHO, the UFC is testing Cote with this bout. If he can hang with a black belt, he might be ready for a title shot. He gets a chance to redeem himself after losing in embarrassing fashion to Travis Lutter at the end of TUF. I don't think he's anywhere close to Anderson Silva but that is a credit to Spider more than anything else. If Cachorrao wins it sets him up for an anticipated rematch with Marquardt, then possibly a title shot of his own. In the meantime we'll probably see Silva fighting Okami at UFC 86-88, depending on whether or not the Roy Jones Jr. fight happens.

MMA Weekly is also reporting in its rumors section that TUF 5’s Corey Hill will take on Justin Buchholz. The UFC 86 card currently looks like this: Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin (UFC light heavyweight championship) Patrick Cote vs. Ricardo Almeida Corey Hill vs. Justin Buchholz Chris Lytle vs. TBA Gleison Tibau vs. TBA Cole Miller vs. TBA Steve Bruno vs. TBA Ben Saunders vs. TBA</div> good fighters, but not looking as stacked as UFC 82,84 and 85 IMO.
Cool. As much as I like Cote. I don't think of him as a genuine contender. should be an interesting fight. Hope he proves me wrong.
more news for UFC 86. Source Sherdog <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Stevenson to Fight Tibau at UFC 86 Joe Stevenson is set to return to the Octagon for the first time since coming up short in his quest for the UFC lightweight title, a source with knowledge of the negotiations told Sherdog.com. Stevenson, who fell to B.J. Penn (Pictures) in January, will look to create fireworks when he faces American Top Team product Gleison Tibau (Pictures) in Las Vegas on July 5. A winner of "The Ultimate Fighter," Stevenson (28-8-0) earned a UFC title shot after rattling off four consecutive wins in the lightweight division. The 25-year-old Californian has his work cut out for him in a very deep 155-pound class if he is to make his way back to title contention Tibau, also 25, had a four-fight winning streak stopped with a decision loss to highly-regarded Tyson Griffin in February. With a 3-2 record in the UFC, Tibau (15-5) joins an anticipated summer card headlined by the UFC light heavyweight title bout between Quinton Jackson and Forrest Griffin.</div>
Tibau is okay, probably a good opponent for Joe Daddy to rebound. Strange that the guys that lose as much as they win seem to be on lots of PPV cards, but guys that win a lot are on less. I dunno if that is the truth, its just the way it seems to me.
The treatment these TUF guys get is so transparent. It is frustrating to watch. The division is STACKED and there is no reason that he should get a lay up.

I've never been impressed with Joe regardless. Hasn't really beat anyone of consequence either.
