Krstic: “I am healthy now. I am 100 percent. I’m totally healthy”
March 25, 2008, 4:25 pm In his Nets blog, Nenad Krstic tries to explain why it’s taken him so long to get it together even though as he says, “with my knee: everything’s fine”. The reason: “I wasn’t used to people running at me and my shot. I wasn’t used to people being around me because I did the whole rehab by myself. “ Now it’s time to step up. “Everybody needs to step up but I feel like I haven’t done too much the whole season. I just need to step up right now”. He also talks about how the flu affected his game.

Krstic is definitely stepping up right now. You have to give props to the way he's been playing, without the flu.

Probably unlikely, but I'm hoping we can sign him to a long term contract for relatively cheap.

What huge contract does Krstic have?

As he seems to be getting better each game, it seems that he will most likely end up taking the QO from the Nets. This is both good and bad. On the good side, that keeps the Nets further away from the tax threshold and provides a real incentive for Krstic to play damn hard next season.

On the bad side, some players don't handle the mental side of a contract season well and screw up chemistry. Doubt that happens with Krstic, but it is a possibility, see the Bulls. Additionally, if Krstic plays really well, the Nets will no longer have the right to match any contract offers for him.

The reason I say the QO seems most likely is that there just isn't enough time for him to prove himself this season. I just don't see another team making a run at him in free agency that would offer something the Nets wouldn't match. I also don't see the Nets offering anything that Krstic's agent would believe is a fair, long term deal.

Do you understand the free agent market difference between a 25 year old center that can average at least 16 & 6.5 and a 31/32 year old journeyman center that put up 12 & 5 after the all star break?

The Spurs are going to be in the Krstic market if we lose his bird rights.

They won't have the cap space.

If he continues to improve for the rest of the season I could see a $20mm over 3 years deal starting at $6mm, with an opt-out after 2 or partial buy-out. Gives him short term security and the chance to get an extension after 2 years. Kind of like Gooden's deal. Little bit of a gamble.

Yeah, Spurs will be all over that.

I want Krstic to post up more because he shot everytime he had a scoring chance. He has the speed to fake it and drive but I think he is still pretty nervous on that knee.

Only if we can run the following line up:

    Marcus
    Tyrus
    Stro
    Sean

    and somehow sign Hakim Warrick.

Injury prone or not, Krstic has still put up far better stats than Moore did. Additionally, Krstic isn't a finished product yet and will most likely continue to improve.

2/5 in 18 minutes means he re-injured his self-confidence? That's a knee jer- oh wait forgot I was talking to Jizzy.
