    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The National Post -
Toronto Head Coach Sam Mitchell will start T.J. Ford and Rasho Nesterovic against Detroit on Wednesday night, according to the National Post.

That means that Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani will come off the bench for the Raptors.

Calderon reportedly asked Mitchell to start Ford over him because the two players have thrived in the opposing roles. Toronto enjoyed great success with Ford and Nesterovic in the starting line-up last season.</div>

Wow. Calderon is the f'in man. That's one of the more unselfish things I've ever seen a player do. I will cry if we don't re-sign him.

Rasho earned that spot. Hopefully Bargs doesn't start playing shit again, because he's coming off the bench.

I'm Fine with seeing Rasho start and Barg sit, in regards to the jose - ford swap maybe they really are better suited for those roles > 2nd - 1st respectively. Although Calderon is the man, he can really run the show when he gets going...we've all seen what he's capable of doing(Better then ford?). Man I hope this creates some good energy!

Calderon is awesome. Such a team player never thinking just about himself.

When we resign Jose (this summer I believe) we are going to be facing incredible competition. Other teams will be willing to give him money, while we already have money committed to Ford. I think that we should trade TJ and free up playing time for Jose, and with Ford's contract we can maybe get someone good or at least decent in return because it's not like TJ sucks or something.

I appreciate what Jose did, but doesn't that concern anyone else?... On several levels.

NO starter should EVER be asking to come out of the starting lineup. This is not what I want in a floor general. He should have the confidence to accept his roll and fight through a slump. As much as I prefer Jose's style over TJ, I appreciate TJ's confidence.

The other side of this is that shouldn't Sam have made this decision by himself...probably a few games ago. Why is he so late on pulling this trigger?

I don't find anything wrong with it from Jose's standpoint. In fact, I think it shows a lot of awareness on his part. Jose is clearly a better starting point guard than TJ Ford. The stats, production, etc. all show that. But at the same time, for whatever reason (most likely mental), we're wasting our significant depth because TJ is playing terrible off the bench. The old arrangement is better for the team (through no fault of Jose's), and it takes a helluva player to admit that.

The one real problem I have with this is that its like we're essentially rewarding TJ for playing shitty and having a bad attitude. It sets a terrible precedent and I don't see how we can go forward this arrangement, past this season. I'm for dealing TJ at some point down the line and getting a someone who can back up the better point guard.

Jose did a good thing, can't fault him for it. He is a true team player.

The crowd was booing TJ when he got a little loose last night. The guy is on a short leash. I hope he isn't put on the Mike James/Rafer Alston express and run out of town on rails like they were.

the fans at the acc are pretty clueless for booing TJ on a wide-open jump with no time left on the clock.

TJ got the Mccabe treatment last night. I don't necessarily condone the booing since its so counterproductive, but that's just the nature of our crowd. Ford kinda brought it upon himself by totally mishandling the past month or so.

Winning changes everything though. This change might be enough to spark the team into a nice little season-ending run, and a cushy schedule certainly doesn't hurt.

That would be pretty funny if he does pull a Rafer Alston.

I say start Calderon. What kind of message is Mitchell sending? I know we are losing, but Mitchell needs to trust his number 1 guy: Jose Calderon. That's all I have to say about this.
