Well, Durant IS the one averaging almost 20PPG. Besides, after all that hype, the NBA isn't going to not give it to Durant. It was Durant's the moment the season tipped off. The only way he wasn't going to win it would be if he averaged like 5PPG.
Durant is the focus of that team, I would be surprised if he didn't average 20ppg. Horford rarely gets plays called for him, personally I think Horford has done more for the Hawks than Durant has done for the Sonics.
I agree. It'd be a snub if Durant gets it. And that's not necessarily a knock on him. He's played great this season, but Horford's been better.
I really think Horford deserves it. He's on a team with Bibby, Johnson, Marvin and Smith. All those guys want to score and get the ball. They all want to be the main guy. Horford has taken what the Hawks offense have given him, and used it to the fullest. He's played great defense and offense. Gotta give it to Horford, but sadly, I think Durant will win it.
Yes, I agree that Horford does deserve recognition for what he does, but historically, the ROY is given to the best individual performer of the draft, and does not consider team success. Hence Durant's 20PPG and multiple clutch shots will guarantee him the award.
If Durant gets it over Horford, I'll be pissed. Horford deserves it way more. He actually plays both sides of the floor, and helps his team win more so than Durant. If Atlanta makes the playoffs, he should be a lock for ROY IMO.
