Vujacic has been pretty good on the offensive side of the ball for the Lakers this year, but part of me wonders if it's only because it's contract time for him.

Try to sign Barnes, Pietrus Offer the VET min to Boki Buy-out or ask him to leave.... Stro Offer picks and maybe marcus for a scoring big or a shooter

first thing on my list would be go golfing with rod thorn, and breakfast at the country club house. than i would get my massage, two asian girls ^^ hahah ok ok enough already... -first thing to do is call coach frank, and gently tell him that hes done in NJ, but will tell him to use me as a reference for his future job interviews. -then i would interview coaches and it would be between marc jackson, bill cartwright, and jeff van gundy. -then in the offseason i would try to move RJ, and work out a deal with the clips to bring in brand. yes elton brand! -then resign diop, talk to stromile bout optin out, and working out a moderate contract with nenad. -i dont really wanna move VC but if an offer comes up where i get a younger legit player in return with draft picks id pull it. -id also shop around marcus for like charlie bell of the bucks. then go partying in the city and hang out with jay z and lebron and work out what he wants for him to make an easier transition to nj or brooklyn, which ever city we are located at that time.
The Nets are stuck with Stro and Hassell unless they combine them with either Williams and/or the lottery pick. I think that is a major constraint. Stro and Hassell will get paid a combined $10 million. If you keep them, you'll probably be forced to play one or both of them regularly. Marcus has actually been playing pretty well the last few games--much more controlled, within himself. Still, I'd be willing to move him. The problem with doing so is that will leave the Nets with just one PG (since Armstrong is expected to retire), and I can't see them trying to integrate two PGs simultaneously (since they will carry three on their roster next year). As for Swat, I don't know what they'd get for him that would be so much of an upgrade. He is too raw; there is too great a chance that he'll never be more than Stromile. I'm happy with a core of Devin, Vince, RJ, and Boone. I'm even happy adding Marcus and Diop to that core. I suspect the Nets will resign Krstic and hope that he recovers his form. So, now we have a couple of players that are hopeless on defense, and a couple that are often indifferent. The big issue is what to do with Boki; even though he's a good guy, I'd love to just let him go, but I suspect that they'd just replace him with someone else who can't play defense, but who is even more erratic a shooter. The Nets right now appear to thrive in an up-tempo game. It is who they are; it appears to give them energy. Frank needs to get over the grind-it-out style and just let them go. I'd draft a shooter that can run the floor and hopefully play some defense. Mayo comes to mind, if he's available. I'd try to punt Hassell if I could.

I disagree with pretty much any plan that isn't aimed at trading RJ or Carter before next year's trade deadline. Over spring break I got to go to the Pacers-Nets game (in NJ) and it just reinforced my view that Harris could be a great piece of a championship team. I've got a lot more confidence in him than I do in any of our other "stars". If Brand is opting out, Clippers might not be able to do better than a sign-and-trade for Carter (plus Williamses, Krstic, whatever it takes that isn't named Boone). A core of Harris-RJ-Brand with Boone and Diop as complements is a nice starting point. Free agency is a crapshoot, but history seems to smile on teams that take chances on young guys coming out of situations where there wasn't playing time. Not sure who that applies to this offseason, but I think the key is not overpaying for someone (unless we're resigning them, a la Krstic or Diop). Aside from that, the more draft picks the better. Aim young, especially for athletes or shooters that will be a good match with Harris. Avoid anyone white unless they shot over 50% from three, especially if they're described as "athletic". I honestly have no idea what to do. I just think we're spinning the wheels if we keep Vince, RJ and Krstic. Cap space, young players, draft picks, whatever. I just want good value for them.
Personally I think that the true core of this team is Devin, Boone, Sean and Marcus. RJ and Vince are obviously key players to potential success over the next few seasons but they should be made available for any deal that can help to build towards future championship success. Krstic, Diop and Boki are players that I would like to see resigned if we can get them cheap but otherwise are expendable as they are not worth breaking the bank over. As for Stromile and Hassell...trading them would be nice and very easy in the case of Stromile as he is an expiring contract next season...
lol ..... just struck me. Fire Frank as coach but hire him as a scout... Ive heard hes pretty good at scouting
elton brand is 29 and coming off a season ending injury...he is also a 6'8" guy getting banged inside all these years...so i wouldn't give any of our promising young and cheap talent for him so boone, SWat, harris and our 1st round picks are off-limits but everyone else the clippers can take...
i am hoping mayo would fall to the nets as well...he can address multiple needs...shooting, scoring, combo guard position, another swing who can spell vc and rj...that way we can take a big man with the next pick... stro would be valuable at the trading deadline next year as an expiring $6M contract so i wouldn't trade him with either of the williamses and a pick just to get rid of him...hassell's contract doesn't extend into the lebron/wade/bosh free agency year so not too concerned about that... <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dumpy @ Mar 31 2008, 07:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>The Nets are stuck with Stro and Hassell unless they combine them with either Williams and/or the lottery pick. I think Sean Williams is a good player but I would like to see what the Nets could get for him b/c I think some team might overrate him. I don't think he's an all-star. If I could get a franchise big that the team really needs, or dump a bad contract, I wouldn't mind moving SWAT.
MY DREAM SUMMER: Sign & trade: Marcus, Krstic, Swift, Hassell and 2009 #1 pick for Brand for 5 years $75mm Re-sign Diop for $4mm/yr for 4 years Re-sign Nachbar for $3mm/yr for 3 years Sign a free agent shooting guard for $4mm/yr Sign a free agent veteran PG for around $2mm (A. Johnson?) Draft best wing (Batum/Douglas-Roberts?) Draft best PF (Arthur?) Draft best PG available in 2nd rd Re-tool the assistant staff with ones that will help solidify a team identity Roster: PG: Harris/FA vet/rookie SG: Carter/FA/Ager SF: Jefferson/Nachbar/Batum PF: Brand/Sean Williams/Arthur C: Boone/Diop And all this comes in at around $71mm in payroll. $2mm below the payroll the Nets started this season with. It's a dream.
